Good: Fantastic when working
Bad: I am on box number 3, really poor internal drives
Comment: The user interface and set up on the Hub is great when working, however the first box I recieved did not work properly, which lead to some frustration. The support was great, and a repalcement box was swiftly dispatched whilst letting me keep the old one (nice touch) until I had transferred all my media.
I was really suprised then that 3 weeks later the new box totally failed, wiping all my media (500GB) and despite the support teams best efforts, still will not recognise the internal drive which has suffered a complete failure... really frustrating as i had used the brand new drive (1TB) as a back up for all my media which is now long gone. I though this is what WD were strong in, hard drives?
WD have offerd me a ne box (number 3) but I am wondering if I would be better with a popcorn... shame as when it was working, it played pretty much everything perfectly, was networked with my 2 home PC's and also perfectly intergrated with the WD Live in the kitchen... perhaps WD should throw in a free 1TB back up drive "...Just in case..."
Good: Decent picture quality I guess, but nothing really
Bad: everything, although the box looks nice.
Comment: Not really up to scratch as a usable device. Annoying pauses when playing DVD rips, and half the time it it can't play DVDs rips at all. Poor UXD. Services like accuweather which are USA only (!).Come back Windows media center, all is forgiven.
Good: I think the WD TV Live Hub is the best network media player/ media server to buy nowadays. It's an excellent product and the price is good.
Bad: only 1TB of Internal Storage
Comment: WDTV Live Hub is really amazing!!
An entirely new look, with a good remote control with programmable number buttons for creating shortcuts to files and folders, HDMI 1.4, Web UI lets you control the device from any computer, smartphone or iPad in the home, you can post photos directly to Facebook and so on.
It plays almost everything with a espetacular image quality in all video files (720p and 1080p show up awesome!)
I pretty much fell in love with it instantly.
I own and recommend it
