Good: Stunning visuals, nice menus, great sound, dlan network streaming
Bad: Bit pricey, won't play video files from usb/memory card, 200hz overrated
Comment: When watching hi-def content such as blu-ray you'll be hard pressed to find a better picture. Has plenty of punch, vivid yet natural colours and deep blacks thanks to the 80,000:1 contrast ratio. Saw no sign of ghosting or juddering which seems to plague cheaper LCDs. The 200hz feature is only really useful when watching very fast sport or action, in most cases it's best to have this feature turned off as it makes movement feel a bit unnatural - too smooth if that's possible.
Picture looks sharp and clear at a wide range of viewing distances and angles.
Sound is great for a built in system. Features 2x 18w speakers boosted by a decent woofer. Nice when you can't be bothered to power up your regular surround sound system.
Menus are great - work just like the Playstation 3/PSP. DLAN enables you to stream music and photos straight from your computer, NAS, or other DLAN server. Also allows you to control your Blu-ray player via the sony tv remote via HDMI sync if the player supports it.
I've seen the 40inch version going for a more reasonable £1190 on some sites including tax and shipping. Definitely worth checking out. If budget is tighter then the 40w4500 is about half the price at £860 and the only missing the not so useful 200hz feature (you get 100hz option instead) and a slightly reduced contrast ratio (50,000:1).
