Good: Looks stunning, picture sharpness.
Bad: The colour blurring
Comment: Forgive my naivity on technical terms, but this TV, while the picture does look sharp, appears to be a mess in colour smearing. I upgraded from a 40" Toshiba rear projection TV (which I loved) and expected the earth to move with The Sony - it didn't! I can't quite explain, but the colours in shades & backgrounds on the picture appear to smear in to a blocky mess - should this happen on a telly of this quality?
I admit I bought this TV unseen, and now wish that I had seen it against other TVs first. I also have a smaller sized Panasonic Viera in another room and have never noticed this problem on that TV.
Maybe when using a hi-def feed it may make a difference, but I am just using Sky+ with standard Scart leads.
I also miss the depth of sound found on my old Tosh, but that was a full surround sound TV and I really didn't expect the Sony to match up in that respect.
Sorry for the lack of technological knowledge, just thought I'd add my 'two penn'orth'.

Good: Aesthetically pleasing, great picture with a HD source, competitively priced, good sound through the set
Bad: Not brilliant on standard def (but that is being extremely critical)
Comment: Bought my 40W2000 just after Christmas, after reading endless reviews about all large LCD screens and it has lived up to all the hype and I believe I made the right choice!
This set really comes into its own when hooked up to HD, I recently connected to Sky HD and I am really impressed. Although I want more HD channels (come on Sky!). Movies and sport look particularly good.

Good: Good looking set, excellent connectivity, decent standard def, excellent high def.
Bad: The design flaw - backlight bleed!
Comment: While I will agree with most of the good things people have to say about this set I have to comment on one thing; for a £1500 TV I don't expect any backlight bleed. This TV suffers from it in spades!
I'm considering sending it back. There are light grey cloudy patches across the screen during dark scenes. This left me having to mess around with the settings to eliminate it - that includes turning the backlight down from 8 to 3. I shouldn't have to do this! This problem affects (if the forums are to be belived) the entire batch of w2000 manufactered so far. I wish I had checked for known problems before I bought it.

Good: Ultimate gaming display, best picture, excellent sound, great upsampling
Bad: Would like one more component socket, PS2 games look dated
Comment: This is the best picture I've ever seen, coupled with amazing 3D sound technology, all in amazing 1080p glory. Knowing this is the perfect companion for the PS3 and Blu-ray really puts my mind at ease after such a long wait. I was initially waiting for the Samsung F7 series but when I compared the two, this TV wiped the floor with it and it's cheaper too!
What really grabbed me about the W2000 is the amount of connections, 2x HDMI, 2x SCART, 1x Component (would have appreciated one more), 1x VGA, S-Video, Composite and RF. I found them extremely well laid out too. The menu system is easy and intuitive and you can rename your channels. A word of advice though, do not use a 360 VGA cable - the image was terrible! Use component instead, what am I going to do with my Wii?
When I went into the shop to buy the W2000 I noticed everyone was hypnotised at picture this screen was pumping out, even though it was at the back of the shop! When I took it home it really looked sexy and now dominates my whole room, even dwarfing my Xbox 360.
My only problem is that with HD, when you run your older consoles they look terrible, but if you run a 360 on a standard definition TV that looks terrible too, so you can't win. However my Gamecube and Xbox looked really good considering.
In conclusion I would say this is a must-have TV with the most definitive display, 1080p precision, amazing colours, backlight display, crisp upsampling and really good 3D sound, although like any TV it is imperative to buy a home cinema setup to take full advantage. If you want the perfect display for PS3 and Blu-ray - LOOK NO FURTHER! BUY IT NOW!

Good: Noise free, high-contrast pictures from high-definition AND standard-definition digital material
Bad: SVHS connection on side of TV instead of the back connection panel
Comment: To date all 1080p panels that I have seen have not been that good with standard definition digital fare, the W range from Sony has corrected this issue. Given a good Sky or Freeview signal (BBC 1/2 for example) and you will see detail that you did not see previously. Watch Coast and you will see what I mean. Natural colour, no video noise or banding and a genuine black level. Move up to Sky HD and the results are even better! Try to see this TV running alongside the latest Pioneer plasma or any other top rated LCD. The Pioneer has a black level which I would put in same league as the Sony but the amount of detail extracted from the Pioneer is not up to the same level of the Sony. (No screenburn issues either) On the LCD front even Sony's V and X ranges cannot match the black level of the W, although compared to the Toshiba ranges for instance there is none of the bluey blacks or banding.

Good: Perfect colours and black levels, 1:! pixelmapping, 1080p, the design etc etc
Bad: Ugly remote
Comment: A sure winner with a nice price

Good: 1080p looks nearly as good as plasma
Bad: 1080i on VGA (but Xbox 360 can run 1080p on it with an error code shown)
Comment: The PS3 has probably something to do with the max res on VGA being 720p, however the 360 will run at 1080p on the VGA, you just get an unsupported format message. Hit menu twice and the message has gone leaving the Xbox in hi def glory. Turn the backlight down to 4 or 5 and patchy blacks become a thing of the past for the most part - at last, a plasma beater.
