Good: Bright scenes
Bad: Dark scenes - absolutely abysmal
Comment: I've spent good money on the television and more upgrading all leads and feeds - dark scenes are absolutely terrible however much I tweak the settings - swirling patterns of black and grey - don't go there.

Good: Picture quality, nice remote, many setting variation tweaks, sleek modern style
Bad: No 1080p, green line on Sky feed, connections on underneath, occasional dithering/blocking in blacks
Comment: Excellent all rounder with all features that you would hope for in a high end LCD, breathtaking picture quality in the main, even in standard format, coming into its own truly in HD format. Ignore the problems you've heard about the green line, it's hardly noticeable, and can be removed by the auto setting picture feature [will be fixed by firmware update by Philips soon, possibly at expense of 1.1 pixel mapping] may be best to stick with it as is[perhaps more knowledgeable people can advise on this].
A myriad of tweaks are a great play thing for the techies out there, and Ambilight is more than just a gimmick, it seems to draw you into a more cinematic all-enveloping ordeal that's quite mesmerising. A good test of effectiveness is to switch it off after a while and observe people's reactions, ie put it back on again quick. I have personally bought this TV for the HD effect on normal viewing, so I can't really comment on media side ie PC connectivity. The only real downside to viewing is that the set seems to occasionally suffer from what I have learned wrongly or rightly to be termed as macro blocking/dithering, ie blockiness in pixellation, this is occasional as I say and seems to be only evident in the blacks/dark areas of a dark scene, however I would stress that in my humble opinion this is not enough of a problem to dissuade me from recommending this set and the audio side of things is also well catered for, with the sound from the speakers being more than adequate. Final summary - at time of writing this TV is probably the best value set on the market for the features that it has, and if I may say outsmarts the Sony X [which is also brilliant] ever so slightly, in particular with respect to vivid picture presentation, which after all is what it is all about. So, minor niggles aside and if budget allows, go get it.
