Good: 3D Blu-ray is awesome and the 2D-3D conversion is amazing
Bad: TV frame feels too plastic.
Comment: I bought this TV to replace my 8yr old JVC flatscreen CRT TV, which until now I found no reason to, because it still works fine without any loss in picture quality. However, the 3D smart TVs I've seen in the past six months or so provided a compelling reason for me to move with the times.
I had looked at other brands such as Samsung and LG offering similar or slightly better features at lower prices than their Japanese competitors in this area, Sony and Panasonic. But I settled for this Panasonic partly as they offered £100 less than the RRP with two 'free' 3D glasses thrown in, which at the time was probably the best deal for a 42in 3D Smart TV as far as two different online price comparisons revealed to me, and partly because I trusted the Panasonic brand more than any other based on my experience with JVC products, as they have the same parent company. (Brand loyalty, I guess)
The standard 2D TV picture is very good with vivid colours, especially the black, as others have mentioned. It might take a bit of tweaking the out of box picture settings, depending on ambient light conditions. It certainly worked for me.
The 3D blu-ray experience is simply breathtaking! I've heard some people say for the best 3D experience you need at least a 47in TV. I wouldn't argue with that, but I've found the 42in perfectly acceptable, and given the £200 price difference between the two, the 42in was a much better deal. It also fits my living room better.
The 2D-3D conversion was an unexpected bonus. I found it best when watching pictures with low camera angles as in shows such as Strictly Come Dancing, or in sports. Wimbledon should be awesome next year!
The one disappointment so far has been Wii games. I was looking forward to watching my child play Super Mario on the Wii but it hit a low point with the colours. They appear as if you've put some brown colour filter on the screen. Perhaps I need to do some more tweaking.
Overall it's a fantastic TV with great 2D and 3D performance. The internet connectivity is also good, featuring BBC iPlayer, Skype, Facebook and much more. Highly recommended!
