Best LCD TVs under £700

2007 is shaping up to be the year that flat panel prices take a tumble. We've seen new TVs enter the market at lower prices than we've ever seen before, and if you sniff around the Internet, you'll find further deals on older models.

We've picked a number of models out here, for a variety of reasons, but as you can see it's possible to get a decent size screen for a comparatively small amount of money. You won't find a 1080p screen in this price range just yet, although it probably won't be too long before they start to reduce in price.

Generally, £700 will buy you a 32-inch screen, although we have got one 37-inch TV in our list -- the Toshiba 37C3030D. If you want something a little larger, this is a good choice, especially if you're looking for something with good all-round performance.

On screens around the 32-inch mark, expect to find two HDMI sockets. The exception here is the Samsung LE32R87, which has three. This is pretty handy, especially if you're jumping into the world of high definition feet first.

Of the four televisions on this list, the highest scoring is the Panasonic. We especially liked this TV because it offers fantastic picture quality for very little outlay. We were also very impressed by the excellent standard-definition performance.
