Good: Reliable and long-lasting. Brilliant playback quality (vision and sound).
Bad: Very, very rarely freezes (easily rectified).
Comment: Wish it would wear out so I could justify buying a newer model with twin tuners, but it just won't wear out!! I really want two tuners now we're all digital, but can't justify getting rid of this old model. Bought it 7 years ago and its performance is still superb.

Good: Easy to use
Bad: No preview screen on the menu
Comment: This is a perfect PVR for those who only require light use. It is simple to set up and record. Great entry level product.

Good: Simple, just works....
Bad: No much, perhaps the lack of a second tuner
Comment: Great bit of kit. My wife loves it. Had it for about two months with no problems, quiet operation (although when you first turn it on you hear the hard drive doing its stuff for about 15 seconds, but then it's very quiet). It could do with a second tunner so you can watch one channel and record another at the same time.

Good: Easy to use; good EPG
Bad: Software download
Comment: A great Freeview box. I was an early purchaser and got the 40Gb version... no problem. Armed with a screwdriver and 250GB ATA133 Western Digital hard drive, I can now record till the cows come home.

The minor problem is the software downloads don't appear to happen... but the auto retune is strong.

Good: Picture/sound quality, ease of recording, value for money, simple looks.
Bad: Currently limited to only allow 20 scheduled recordings at one time.
Comment: Excellent performance for the money -- if you already have a Freeview box, you won't miss the lack of twin tuners. The manual does not cover all the capabilities, leaving the user to investigate how certain parts of the interface work. Operation is near silent -- dont be put off by noisy reviews -- this unit is quiet compaired to the other Media Centre / PVR solutions I've tested. Good customer service from HUMAX.

Good: 80GB means you can comfortably record almost two days of non-stop shopping channel
Bad: It's also roomy in the space department i.e. it takes up a lot of it
Comment: This is a fantastic PVR with molto molto space on the hard drive -- great for recording hours and hours of the shopping channel, or whatever else takes your fancy. Being able to record 40 hours of MPEG2 broadcast is a fantastic bonus in anyone's book I'd imagine. OK the reception quality could be a trifle dodgy if you live inside a mountain or something similar, but a normal TV aerial signal booster should go at least some way towards remedying that.
The EPG is great, the price is right, so come on down! - But only if you've got enough space in your living room, as it's quite large.

Good: Picture quality is good
Bad: Would like a dual tuner
Comment: This records the TV as you watch it but yo actually watch the recorded version so there is a slight quality differential. You can rewind to something you missed a few minutes ago - up to 90 mins - and pause live TV no probs - but if you change the channel, you lose the recorded cache which is frustrating. But overall - if you have a VHS and want to upgrade, this is a strong product.
