Philips Cineos 42PFL7603D
The Philips Cineos 42PFL7603D is a lovely looking TV with superb HD performance and great sound at a sensible price -- the only real downside is the slightly ropey Freeview performance. This 42-inch 1080p LCD TV also has Ambilight, though not as advanced a system as the predecessing 9703

Philips Cineos 32PFL9603D
We love it when a TV manufacturer remembers that most people don't live in enormous mansions. It's great for us plebs who live in lowly flats and modest houses to have a TV with the latest technology and excellent picture quality. Philips' 9603 does just that, and tops it off with sleek styling and Ambilight

Philips 37PF9731D
Thanks to its glossy black finish, the Philips 37PF9731D is a fantastic-looking set and the build quality is up there with the best, too. It doesn't support a 1080p signal, which will disappoint those looking for a future-proof spec, but the picture quality and performance is nothing short of fantastic

Philips 42PF9831D
It's very expensive, but Philips' latest 42-inch LCD fully justifies the price tag with a wealth of innovations to improve picture quality and the overall viewing experience. Chief of these is the Ambilight back-lighting, which produces an appropriately coloured glow behind the set to make you feel even closer to the high-definition action

Philips 32PF9830
Philips' Ambilight technology produces a calming glow from the back of the TV, which looks cool and boosts the set's perceived contrast level. And while the 32PF9830 is expensive for its size, is includes plenty of premium features, including a motorised stand, and the picture quality is wonderful. All that's missing is a Freeview tuner

Philips 26PF5520D
The 26PF5520D offers almost everything that you could want on a modern TV, including full high-definition compatibility and built-in Freeview, all for the miserly sum of £700. It might not offer picture processing or NXT speakers, but with decent picture quality and a shopping list of features, this is a true bargain
