Review:
I bought this TV back in August last year, back then it was £750 from DSG and one of, if not, the cheapest 1080p sets I could find. I don't have a HD source I just wanted some "future proofing". I believe it is a lot cheaper now and I would say even more of a bargain.
I was a little disappointed with the picture quality at first (I didn't set up the TV as I was away when it arrived). But, after half-an-hour of fiddling with the settings I think the SD picture is superb. I have read on AV forums that a bit of adjustment to get the perfect picture is not unusual for LCD screens.
I've also found the spectacle mode brilliant as it adjusts the picture size whenever I change the channel to match the picture width. No black boarders or stretching, both of which I hate. I haven't noticed any of the bad points that the CNET review points out about the black levels and what not and I usually get distracted by any imperfections like blurriness, ghosting or bad colour likeness.
The sound from the set is as good as any that I have heard and I'm use to watching Sony CRTs. I'm not much of an audiophile, but so long as there's a bit of bass and no distortion I'm happy and this is just what the LG provides.
Bad points:
-Buzzing sound when close to TV, but not heard in normal viewing (I believe this is a normal sound for this model).
-Input select button brings up menu, I'd rather have it cycle through the inputs - a minor niggle.
Overall, it's a value for money box, that has all the features of more expensive machines for 75% of the price. I think the ultimate endorsement I can give is that I'm likely to be buying another one very soon...

You might think you know what a PVR is, but in the UK we're really stuck in the past with our digital recording antics. Happily, Virgin Media is bringing TiVo back
