Hello, I'm Ian Morris and this is the Loewe connect 37 media full-HD+ DR+ a TV with a more ridiculous name than Monty Pythons Mr Throat Wobbler Mangrove. Despite it's ludicrous name, we're huge fans of the TV and when we explain what it does, you'll understand why it needs such a long name.
The best way to describe this TV is as three things in one. Obviously, first and foremost it's a 37-inch LCD TV and a good one too, it can display pictures at up to 1080p has very good picture quality, including deep blacks and lots of detail.
The second thing it does is offer a built in, 160GB PVR for recording Freeview. It offers many of the features you might find on a Sky+ box, including series link for recording all the episodes of your favourite shows and enabling to pause and rewind live TV (show menu system).
The third trick this TV has up its sleeve is its media streaming capabilities. And to some extent it's this feature we like the most. The TV can connect to a wired or wireless network (show Ethernet and wifi antenna). From there, it can access any windows media shared library. This means that all you need is a Windows XP machine and this TV and you can enjoy your downloaded video in your living room.
What's more important is that when you connect to a media library, this little blue tab lights up to let you know you've done it. Epic!
There is also the remote control, which deserves a mention of its own. It's sleek, stylish and weighty. This is the sort of TV controller that Nicolas Sarkozy would be thrilled to have in his house. It's also functional, and makes the best use of the HDMI CEC standard that allows you to control an HDMI connected device from the TV remote. This isn't a uniqure feature, but it's rare to see it work so well without any menu tweaking.
Everything about this TV is well designed and it's a breeze to use too. We love the picture quality, think the sound is pretty good for a flat panel and we think the PVR and Streaming functionality is a fantastic addition.
The bad news is that it costs £2,150 although you can get £200 off if you don't want the built-in PVR functionality. We love the TV, but we'd be even more thrilled if it cost £500 or so less.
If it wasn't for the price, this TV would be an excellent choice for anyone looking for an all-in-one solution. As it is, there isn't very much this TV doesn't do, and its picture and sound quality are certainly excellent
