Typical Price £2,200
What we think: This screen offers great performance, vastly improved sound and a fair price tag, although it won't be affordable for everyone

Hello, I'm currently being dwarfed by the Samsung PS50P96 which, as the name implies, is a 50-inch plasma screen. There is one thing the name doesn't give away though, and that's the fact that this is a 1080p plasma.
While plasma screens have been able to do full HD for a while, there aren't nearly as many screens on the market as there are LCDs. So we were particularly thrilled to get our hands on this handsome beast.
As you can probably see, it's the usual piano black finish that we see on most flat screen TVs these days. That's not to say we don't like it, because we do, and Samsung has done a good job at making it look both smart and handsome at the same time. At the bottom of the screen is a blue light, this doesn't do much, apart from look good. But you can switch it off if it isn't your thing. Even the speakers have this fancy strip, designed to be both easy on the eyes and to direct sound to where you are sitting.
Samsung has also proved it listens to criticism. One of the things I've always hated about flat panel TVs is the weak sound, there is never any bass to give action movies that extra punch. On this screen there is a 2+2 speaker system that adds low end sound and generally makes everything sound a lot better.
We've spent a fair amount of time with this screen now, and are quite fond of it. The picture quality is excellent and we love watching movies on this TV the only downside is the price, which is £2200, but the good news is, if you look online it can be bought for about £1600, which makes it a bargain.
