Typical price: £1,200
What is it: 40-inch high-definition LCD with Freeview tuner and memory card support
What we think: Decent performance for the price and a fistful of extra features too

We like:
Striking finish; dual HDMI connectivity; memory card features; advanced processing
We don't like:
Overcrowded remote; unrealistic colour balance
You might also need:
2x HDMI cables; RGB Scart; component cable; USB cable; memory card
CNET UK judgement:
Samsung's LE40N73B is a large-screen LCD with a few tricks up its sleeve. The future-proof specification is enhanced by memory card support and the vivid performance will please most people, even if it is somewhat superficial
