Good: Quick start up
Bad: Horrible user interface, no multiple windows, don't like the edges thing
Comment: I tried it and then quickly switched to Ubuntu, now i'm happy. It just works!
Good: The design is appealing, it's a fresh face for microsoft
Bad: It's jarring to retool the way you think about a desktop, also the jump from metro to the desktop can be a bit jarring
Comment: I think, overall microsoft has made a fresh product. Not perfect, but it seems like most criticism doesn't stem from microsoft's changes, it stems from them making any changes at all. The biggest tips for getting around win8 and feeling at home?: Remember to play "4 corners" (you'll see), and use the left-hand side stream. The side stream is one of the highlights for me and one of the design features that beautifully transitions from desktop to metro-style app with a feeling, not of two interfaces sutured together, but of purposeful and well-crafted design. Overall, I rate win8 with 4 stars because it's refreshing, and it's better suited to a modern computing experience. Muera la "start button", eh?
Bad: Many features removed, ugly interface
Comment: Difficult to use even for an experienced user. A ton of features silently removed (see full list here http://xpwasmyidea.blogspot.it/2011/09/features-removed-in-windows-8.html).
For me it's just a big touchphone and not suited for professional use. I'll keep on with my Windows 7!
Good: It's fast
Bad: It's horrible to use on a laptop
Comment: I'm currently running Win8 Preview on an elderly laptop (dual booting it with Vista which runs slowly).
It's so much faster than Vista but awful to use with a touchpad on a laptop. It has clearly been optimised for use on a tablet and I'm looking forward to using it on one.
In the meantime the ideal OS for my laptop would be one that's as fast as Win8 but looks more like Vista. It seems I should've upgraded to Win7 some time ago!
Good: Wdesktopsn tablets
Bad: Windows 8 on desktops
Comment: Just horrid to use on a Laptop or Desktop.
Would never upgrade from Windows7 to 8 on either. It's just not worth it on a Laptop or Desktop.
MS should have focused on a new platform for Desk and Lap and one for Tablet.. similar to OSX and iOS.
Good: Its innovative, fun to use, looks great, fast
Comment: Its a great OS, i wonder how many of the users who have reviewed it have even tried it or just dont like the idea of the changes
Good: tablet optimised
Bad: because it is tablet optimised it will be dreadfull on conventional pcs
Comment: looks like more of a tablet os than a replacement for 7 and xp
Comment: if the price is the same as USA?
Good: brilliant for mobile systems and toucscreen desktops
Bad: not out yet in final format
Comment: The W8 system is supposed to be the next best thing after QNX. RUMOURED that RIM want to go into partnership with Microsoft on the basis of W8.
