Bad: I've only used it once, that was today though I've had it about 12 mths. I find the volume very bad ( and I'm not deaf ).
Comment: had it about 12 mths, but used it the first time today. the bad thing is,the volume is very bad. no were as loud as my tomtom1. ( and I am not deaf ).
Good: Nice clear screen with all you'd expect plus streen names
Bad: INSUFFICIENT VOLUME
Comment: I bought a Tom Tom Start 60 just under 3 weeks ago to replace my old Tom Tom GO 910 which had developed a terminal fault. I thought that this new Start 60 would be like an upgrade to my old one, but alas I was sorely disappointed. It would have been great if I could have heard properly in the car when there was road and engine noise. I have a Diesel Peugeot 406, which isn't the noisiest of cars, but I have to say that I am a little hard of hearing, however, I never had any problem in this department with my old Go 910. I think that it is reasonable to expect that a full volume such a device should be at least equal to an average human voice. This Start 60 fall well short of that. A friend mine also bought one last week and I went on a short journey with him and he too was struggling to hear the Start 60 at full volume. His car is a Diesel Ford Maverick, which is a little noisier in the cockpit than mine. I complained to Tom Tom about this, as I see it as a manufactural issue. Today I took the Start 60 back to Tesco's where I bought it and replaced it with a Tom Tom XXL Classic which has a more audible sound output. I have no doubt that if your car has a very quiet interior when driving and there are no other noise distractions, you may find the volume output adequate for your needs. If this is not the case and you need to hear things clearly, then give the Start 60 a miss, as I find this to be a serious long term issue.
Good: Everything !
Bad: Haven't found anything yet !
Comment: Recently I started a job which required me to travel to various sites - I've been up and down dead-ends, done 16 point turns in the the snow and ice, written out clear directions - all to no avail. And in the end have had to resort to calling my husband with a plea for help, and a response of 'not again'!
I guess the other day was once too often, I came home to my darling who had researched most of the Sat-nav's on the market and came up with this one.
What a fantastic choice - it is so clear and precise that even a dumbo like me with my distinctly lacking navigation skills will (hopefully!) never again be lost !!
I love the clarity of the voice, the screen, the directions and the points of interest option (where's the nearest Starbucks?)
This is one baby I will be using a lot, and hold onto for a long time !!
Good: Large screen, big buttons, good stand alone device.
Bad: Cannot be used with Tom Tom Home or 3rd party routing software.
Comment: I bought a Tom Tom Start 60 Europe on the basis of my previous experience of earlier models and the attraction of a large screen display.
Although the unit works well as a start alone device for navigating from A to B, I am extremely disappointed to find that it can only be interfaced to a PC using My TomTom and cannot be used with Tom Tom Home or any third party routing software.
This contradicts the download instructions for Tom Tom Home, which states that the application can be used with 'START' devices, and the 'Start/Start 2' reference guide, which specifies the use of Tom Tom Home. This is very misleading.
Apparently, the limitation of being able to be used with My TomTom is a feature of all the new nav 3 devices, which treat the units as network devices rather than hard drives, as was the case with earlier models.
The consequence of this is that POIs can only been uploaded via the MyTomTom browser and routes cannot be pre-planned and downloaded.
It should also be noted that the Start 60 can only store 4 waypoints, so that one can only set up the simplest of routes. It is very disappointing that the unit cannot utilise the 'Routes' facility, which is also promoted without any limitation on the Tom Tom web site.
It is hoped that Tom Tom will address these issues with a later software release but, until then, be warned!
Comment: This is the best all round sat nav system I have ever seen,I am seriously considering purchasing this one I am very impressed
