Comment: I got this at a good deal, i brought a refurb like new for under £200 a while back when it was selling for £279 brand new.
Great satnav with easy to use touchscreen
The one i got is like this http://www.totalsatnav.co.uk/tomtom-go-1000-live-europe-8-p.asp
With the euro maps so far i used in sweden france italy and germany
And it really helped
Good: Robust, Accurate, Best Sat-Nav Ever Owned
Comment: I have tried a lot of Sat Navs, and most recently when I thought I lost this device was a Garmin. I REALLY missed my TomTom and it brought it to light how good it is.
The accuracy of destinations is brilliant, although the Live Services and Map Updates cost, I think they are reasonable if you value your time. The amount of time this unit has saved me with the HD Traffic which is pretty damn accurate and the brilliance of the IQ routes is phenomenal, and although I don't drive every day, I always make sure it's on my windscreen to keep me updated with travel and accurate arrival times.
Good: 90% about it all in all is EXCELLENT!
Bad: 10% is you cannot search for road names without post codes
Comment: This tom tom is by far the best in the market! i use it every single day and its 98% accurate (pin point accuracy).. however the only problem i find with this device is that when it comes to searching for a road name, it simply looks for boroughs rather than the roads name. however you can always just do a local search on the name but that is why this gets a 4 out of 5 rating. sort that out and youl have a straight 5 stars.
Good: Exceptional Navigation and Rapid, Pin-Point Accuratacy.
Bad: Totally Useless 'Voice Recognition' System and Faulty Phone Operation.
Comment: Like potentially hazardous design faults with motor vehicles, ALL 'Lives' should be recalled for rectification, least of all, before a serious accident ensues.
Good: trafic info
Bad: display,up to date maps out of date, wrong instructions.
Comment: this is the 4th tom tom i have had and is the worst. first 2 stolen, next a 700 series battery connection kept breaking, but the 1000 is a backwards step, and does not compare with previous models both in display and guidance. Trafic info is good whilst I have it FOC, locks in quicker to sat. If you want to buy it from me u r welcome, Switching to Garmin.
Good: Absolutely fantastic features, great looking device, everything it should be.
Bad: It doesn't work!!! I went through 4 units between March and July this year; TomTom need to sort their act out!!!!
Comment: This is without doubt the best navigation device of all time on paper, and indeed, when fresh from the box all but one of the four units I had were simply superb, enough to say that compared to the Garmin I ill-advisedly replaced it with, the Go 1000's navigation is second to none. However, the software (or lack thereof) issues are well publicised and frankly are simply unacceptable given that TomTom make endless promises and deliver nothing, especially given that these things ought to have been sorted before the launch of their product! Of more concern is the fact that TomTom have tried 4 times to supply me with a working unit and failed every time which can only lead me to the conclusion that they are ALL defective, I use my sat-nav daily and cover 50,000 miles a year, I need reliability from a sat-nav, below detailed are the issues with the four units;
1) Worked fine for the first couple of weeks and then began 'dropping' phone calls via the hands free function, then started to fail to connect to the phones it had been previously paired with, unit changed after 4 weeks or so.
2) Worked fine for the first few weeks and then started getting hot and went into a cycle of switching off and back on again every 5 minutes, I Googled this issue and found that there is considerable history of these units failing in this manner, unit changed out after 6 weeks or so.
3) Problems as per unit 1, changed out after 4 weeks or so.
4) Volume of the unit seemed to wander aimlessly almost from the day I had it, within 4 days it had started the 5 minute cycling issue, gave up and got a refund on the Go 1000 Live after just 4 days.
TomTom HAVE to fix this with a replacement model with hardware as good as the software and software that is complete, the device when it works is simply too good not to have, the fact that it doesn't work is too annoying for words!!!!
Good: Build quality, graphics, functionality
Bad: TomTom software is not ready and no map updates results in a lot of functionality being disabled
Comment: Woo – a beautiful product and solid build quality like my BMW 5 series. Functionality is a vast improvement over my old TomTom 910 Go. Unfortunately, TomTom BV has disabled a lot of features until they sort out the software and map updates are not available. They say wait six months and everything will be alright. Five star potential becomes 2.5 stars in reality.
