Good: A3 Printing
Bad: A4 Paper Feed
Comment: This machine does not deserve a place in my business. It's good for A3 printing, which I tend to do on a single page basis, but for A4 multi-page documents it's a disaster.
For scanning it's also OK but I've used better and there a certainly better multi-function units out there now.
I've not used the wifi so can't comment on it's ability to handle material from networked laptops/iPads/phones.
I have printed 6x4 prints satisfactorily and colour representation is acceptable.
BUT, for core work such as printing A4 multi-page documents (not even duplex) this is a big fail because it just keeps jamming up as it takes paper from the cassette drawer. I've tried various papers and weights and all fail within 3-4 sheets.
The thing is back with the guy I bought it from 6 weeks ago (hopefully he'll be able to fix it - he said he'd seen the problems before with others he's sold....so why did he recommend it? Because I said I needed an A3 printer. What I forgot to say is that I need an A4 printer as well.
Yesterday I was tempted to just put a hammer through it and cut my losses. The previous reviewer got it right...this is a very poor printer (or mine is) and I'm now looking for an alternative.

Good: A3 printing capability
Bad: A4 paper tray
Comment: I wish I had read the other reviews prior to purchasing this printer. Using the paper tray for A4 printing is terribly unreliable, with constant paper jam errors. The paper is just not being properly taken up. I have stopped using the tray altogether and am currently searching for another printer to use for A4 printing. I will use the Brother only for single sheet A3 printing.

Good: It prints sometimes (90% of the time)
Bad: Un reliable - paper feed is dismally engineered
Comment: On my second one of these printers and the current one is on its way back to the shop tomorrow. Same problem - the paper feed keeps giving me paper jam errors, but there is no jammed paper. tried the online brother "help guide", no use. When it did work it would constantly feed in extra pages which is a pain when you are printing documents back to back. It would be an excellent printer if it was reliable, the functionality is good. But if its not able to pick up paper its no good. Possibly a 2 days work lost between both printers.

Good: It works most of the time
Bad: Paper feed is constantly breaking down
Comment: I returned the first printer (same model) to the shop after it breaking my heart, constantly getting "paper jams" yet the paper was never jammed. Tried new paper even. The replacement is giving me similar errors all the time and the print constantly runs from one page into the next, ie. it picks up one page half way along the previous page and prints over the two of them. Other than that functionallity is as good as required (and paid for).
Would go for a different printer if buying again.

Comment: I recently bought this Brother MFC J6510DW A3 printer directly & have made the perfect choice with this Brother MFC J6510DW Printer! It's got superb color faxing even with the usage of A3 paper at 33,600 KB/Sec, & the A3 scanning results are also very good - while the duplex printing upon both regular A3 & A4 80gsm paper are also good, & when the brother A3 photographic paper is used for either images/photographs printing, the print quality is excellent with the correct brother/recommended A3 photographic paper for both the A3 matte & A3 glossy photographic printing!
Notice:- For printing either or both images/photographs - only use the correct brother/recommended A3/A4 matte/glossy photographic paper for these purposes upon this printer & also make the correct printing selections within the printer's LCD "Menu" for printing out any A3/A4 images/photos upon the printer - in order to avoid any errors & to get those high quality photographic results!
Important:- Never try to print out any images/photos on any regular plain A3/A4 paper as the plain paper is definitely not designed for any images/photos printing purposes & therefore those results will not be good!
The panel of numbers on the left side is used to store your fax numbers for fast faxing! Once the printer is switched on, you'll notice that the "Fax" button/icon is lit - so you'll just need to select your fast fax # for example "1" followed by either the "Mono" or "Colour" button that's located upon the far right side of the printer in order to send out your mono/color fax A3/A4 docs!
If you know how to type both letters & numbers with any cell phone, then you'll be able to fully setup your wireless printing side, as those # upon the right panel would be deployed for this purpose! In order to input the following example wireless network password:- "******" - just hit the # "5" key four times to get the correct "J" letter in CAPS mode. If you make a mistake, you'll just need to slowly go through that part of the selection cycle again in order to get the correct "J" letter in CAPS mode displayed - then you'll need to select the right arrow in order to input the next number/character & select "OK" once complete!
Having checked the following info out first with Brother Customer Services before usage - only use the genuine brother LC1240 ink cartridges & the brother LC1280XL ink cartridges & don't ever use any of those compatible ink cartridges as that will immediately invalidate your Brother MFC J6510DW A3 printer warranty altogether! - Do please study your Brother MFC J6510DW Printer Manuals & User Guides so that you fully know how to correctly use this Brother MFC J6510DW A3 Printer!
Only search for either the "genuine brother LC1240" ink cartridges & "genuine brother LC1280XL" ink cartridges! - Don't ever purchase or use any compatible ink cartridges - as it's not worth it!
Hope this helpful.
