Good: Plays Games and Movies for hours
Bad: The text fields are cimbersome
Comment: We bought a new PSP lite for our 8 year old for our regular flights to the US as it is more convenient to travel direct from our regional airport than pay extra to connect in London with BA / Virgin and pay so much more for their in seat entertainment. The choice was an Archos or the PSP and it came down to cost and functionality.
The PSP bought after trading in an old DS cost 80 pounds.
A game (too expensive in the UK) and several MP4 movies onto a 2gd card off we set. The test I had read in here was a flight to New York. Our new PSP lite lasted over 6 hours, not quite the full flight but enough that it done the job - gaming and movies - entertained 8 year old, no tantrums.
Graphics are excellent, much better than our DS Lite and easier to use. The screen size is adequate and better than any Ipod. Using in earphones the sound is first class.
The gaming is just like the big PS2 so easy for kids, loaded really quickly and no stutters during play.
Down side, none really other than we (and I include my text savvy 13 and 8 year old) find the text writing cumbersome. We have still to work out how to work the internet though we connected with our wireless once we worked out the text for the code.
USD movies are expensive and limited but MP4 are widely available and cheap. Games in the UK are a disgrace but we travel regularly to the US where they are half the price.
A $14 travel case from Wal Mart set it off perfectly.
Any parent considering buying a DVD player will also be forking out for a handheld games console, save yourself time and money - buy a PSP lite - the charger works world wide and if you are on a flight of more than 6 hours, carry a spare battery - the cost a few pounds are are worth it.

Good: Great game titles and movies on the go
Bad: No conversion software for videos and lack of controls mean PS2 ports are difficult to handle
Comment: Great handheld console but has faults

Good: It's Sony
Bad: Nintendo
Comment: PSP is to the max of technology currently available though PSP2 will kill ALL NINTENDO'S FUTURE HOPES OF DOMINATING THE MARKET.

Good: How it is designed, shaped and functions. The UMDs are great, a wide range of videos and games to choose from. Both white and black PSP are fabulous
Bad: Sometimes it gets so confusing when it comes to connecting or playing multiplayer games...
Comment: I think the PSP is incredibly entertaining!! It's literally taken over my life... =) Which is a bad thing but when it comes to boredom, PSP is the first thing that comes to mind. I love how you are able to download games onto your memory stick for the PSP. The choice of colours for the PSP is low, but because PSP is not the cheapest of things to buy I am guessing having such limited colours to choose from is wise. One thing that is not so good about the PSP is its battery life. It charges quick, but also runs out quick too. A maximum of 6hrs battery life for a standard PSP battery is not so good. But I guess there are longer life batteries for PSP for owners to buy and choose from. Overall, if you are considering to buy a PSP, I think you should go for it ;) It's all gurd =P

Good: Good graphics, screen resolution, internet access.
Bad: PS2/1 game ports shrunk down. Unreactive control system, poor battery life, stupendous load times: 15 seconds to a minute!
Comment: This is really quite a cool, quality product. Do you want quality games, responsive controls, quick loading times and long battery life? If yes, then you've come to the wrong place. It is pretty expensive and doesn't live up to expectations. The problems are above. Only get this if you have too much money.
I have had my PSP for a few months. At first it was good, but after a few days I really noticed the loading times. Most reviews are written when the person has just bought the product, when they haven'y had time to see its flaws. THINK! don't waste your money on this, unless you have thoroughly thought it through. Read my bad points, and if you get a PSP, you will probably see the flaws. This review presents the facts. It is not biased.
Consider a Nintendo DS as well as a PSP, half the price, my preferred console.

Good: Games library, screen, expandable memory, analogue stick, stylish design, media capabilities, WIFI.
Bad: Battery life, flimbsy shoulder bottons.
Comment: The Sony PSP is one hell of a console. Its basically a Ipod, DVD player, Playstation 2, Web browser, Photo album all squeezed into a great looking sexy piece of kit. The 4 hour battery life is a bit disapointing but that's not much of a problem as there will be official battery packs with extended battery life, the 32 mb memory stick could be upgraded to a 2Gb + a 4Gb hard drive which could give you a 6Gb PSP in oyur pocket.
