Good: screen, graphics
Bad: too big
Comment: I dont think the size will suit kids hands. I cant see a kid using the back touch panel without difficulty with their small hands!
Good: OLED Screen, Top-quality games, good battery life (prior to contrary belief), 3PS, useful touch controls, very reasonably priced at £198 (ASDA Wi-fi model), easy to use internet browser, better than the competition.
Bad: Not much, perhaps some launch titles are a tad overpriced, but then again quality 'budget' titles such as Escape Plan means I can forgive Sony for that, not pocket-friendly for hipsters wearing skinny jeans.
Comment: It is the greatest handheld ever released. Go buy it tonight. £198 Asda.
And btw it fits comfortably into all my everyday jeans, combats & trackies. And like the majority of people I carry some sort of bag with whenever I'm on the move, whether it's on my way into Uni or heading into work, I can securely carry it around everywhere I go.
Comment: Poor review from CNET if you ask me. iPod Touch and Vita are comparing apples and pears. Why not compare it to another gaming console... oh, like the Nintendo 3DS? The 3DS didn't get compared to the Touch, or any other device, so why draw comparisons now?
The Vita is a gaming machine first, media player last. Granted, the battery life is rubbish, and the proprietary accessories (even usb ports... Sony, what were you thinking!?) are annoyances, the games are expected to be in the same sort of game play and depth as it's console relative, the PS3.
There isn't many games on the Touch that have depth and graphics, and they typically do cost more. Neither does the Touch have a gaming interface anywhere near that of the Vita. Maybe if it has the rear touchscreen interface that the Vita had, then maybe it could have been onto something, but when your fingers protrude the already small screen, the interface is cumbersome at best.
Judging by the hardware, I can see potential of the Vita overcoming the media and browser shortcomings quite easily if Sony have plans on making improvements.
Why not compare the next iPod Touch coming out Q3 to a Samsung Note next time, and mark down accordingly.
Good: Great graphics and functionality of tablet, Great screen quality
Bad: Battery life and expensive memory and expensive games
Comment: I used to love this website, but how the hell can you call a ipod touch a hardcore gamers device. I'm sorry but the games that come on mobile phones tend to be linear and boring and of all the devices you had to mention you had to bring up a apple product when it is so locked down. The more hardcore gamers would use emulators to get access to games that are more diverse.
The point of the handheld gaming is the controls and the quality of the games not a hundred rehashed versions of the same games for a small screen device. Also virtual controls on a screen smaller than 4 inches doesn't hack it.
You can't compare games like Zenonia to 3DS Zelda or even Fifa mobile to PS Vita Fifa
Worst review I seen
Bad: The battery life,no built in memory and no mulyitasking
Comment: I think this product is going to be AWESOME, but it still has a few floors which will probably be the reason it wont sell well... :(
Good: Dual analog, screen size and resolution, near console quality peformance, touch controls, software
Comment: In a straight up hardware comparison, the Vita knocks both the 3ds and the iphone into a cocked hat but that is not the whole issue here:
I think it must be hard for reviewers to shake themselves out of the Apple/Android mantra, whip off the blinkers and judge a device on its merits and, most importantly, the market it's been developed for.
He fails to recognise that the 'hard-core' gaming market is not a little clique of nerds. Gaming is the mainstream these days and eclipses even the movie industry. The demand for a handheld console experience with dual analog control and high performance graphics is stronger than I think they realise and people will buy the device if the developers jump on board. Modern warfare 3 made close to a billion dollars in its first week. Multiplayer FPS gaming is huge and when games like Battlefield, Modern Warfare, Killzone and Resistance hit the device, the Vita should flourish.
Good: Versatile controls and potential for range of games it offers
Bad: No built in memeory - just stupid.
Comment: Odd review, battery life mostly accepted as reasonable for what the device is (not a phone!)
games not that expensive - download prices look reasonable and around £30 for the likes of fifa, wipout and uncharted not really comparible to angry birds!
Should have had built in memory and cheaper memory cards, that is a crazy move sony. Also (perhaps this is possible) vita should be able to remote play through ps3 to big tv (at moment apparently only ps3 can play to vita) and surely android compatibility could have been possible, like a mini tablet.
Really looking forward to see what can be done on it though and controls address the issues that really held the psp up.
I intend to use mine to maximise ps3 use at home (hardly ever get access to main tv in house - kids etc) - don't really see this as adevice for kids to play on 15 minute bus journeys.
Good: Unparalleled gaming power
Bad: Battery / cost could be better
Comment: It's interesting that EVERY SINGLE DECENT TECH SITE is raving about this product - awarding it 4 or 4.5 out of 5, rightly comparing it to the 3DS, briefly mentioning iphone, but noting that 'where's my water' cannot compare to wipeout 2048, etc.
Not CNET - the champion of Apple - nope, CNET says it's not as good as an itouch...
How ignorant can one site be?
Good: its a portable ps3
Bad: battery could be better and the sd card shoukd have been a standard microsd not a propietary sony format
Comment: I cannot believe that you were comparing this device to an ipod touch. It completely turn me off on your review. How can you ever compare angry birds, which is a 1 dollar game do something like uncharted? That is pure ludicrous. Those of us that 1 quality gaming will never suffice with an ipod and comparing thesr two devices its like comparing an aventador with a Hyundai just because they both drive.... I mean come on!
Good: Sheer power and scope
Bad: Battery life could be better...
Comment: Admittedly, it has few rivals battling for our affections. There’s the Nintendo 3DS and, er, that’s it. Some might say that the Apple iPhone or iPod touch are valid competitors, but to compare it to an iOS device, in gaming terms, is to compare a Lamborghini to a Ford Ka, and anybody who tries will come across as an idiot.

COME ON CNET - COMPARING THIS TO ITOUCH? WITH LITTLE / NO MENTION OF 3DS?!??! FFS - ARE YOU REALLY IN APPLE'S POCKETS SO MUCH?
