Good: I love the multitasking, it is a lot better than the nintendo 3ds
Comment: cnet you are always wrong, like usual.
the playstation vita is a great machine, I think the best portable gaming machine so far!!!!!!
Good: Awesome games, Great graphics, Dual analogue sticks, Multitasking, Good apps
Comment: First of all I want to address the bad things listed by CNET
1.) battery life:
It is the same as other thing on the market e.g. 3DS, so I don't see how you can list that as a bad point when it is on par with other handhelds?
2.) Big and bulky:
I don't know how small their pockets must be because the vita fits in all my trouser/jean pockets?
3.) Console and games are expensive:
Some retail games at launch were over-priced but from the PSN Store you can buy at least ten great games (super stardust delta, escape plan, everybody's golf, etc.) all for under £10 each.
4.) No internal storage:
The memory cards are overpriced...if you don't shop around properly, I got a free 8GB memory card when buying my vita from amazon.
5.) Limited multi-tasking:
You can do up to six things at once! You will never need to do even that many things at once, putting that as bad point is just ridiculous!
If you want to play some amazing games (e.g. Uncharted not angry birds) that look beautiful on a 5-inch OLED screen, buy a vita.
If you want better and more precise physical buttons when playing handheld games, buy a vita
If you want to be in a party chat talking to all your mates while checking out your trophies and listening to music, buy a vita
Basically buy a vita! ( Sony should totally employ me! )
Good: Love the design, the graphics, the tight controls
Comment: I just bought mine a few days ago and own 2 games : Mod nation and Uncharted, and I absolutely adore my PS Vita, I don't mind the bigger size, as a matter of fact I like it that way, the fact that it has 2 analog sticks is a major game changer, the touch controls are fine, sound is great, yes there are a lot of other gadgets that play games, but, what kind of games? angry birds? please!, this is a full game console, for committed gamers, I dont use my phone for games, I use it for calls, I have an ipod touch which I use for music and as a ebook reader, I love games, I have a PS Vita and I love it. What I don't get is all the underhanded negativity of some people, don't like it don't buy it. I'm extremely happy with mine.
Good: Design adn software
Bad: Price and no internal storage
Comment: Want one. But not for £220 :(
Good: Amazing graphics, good stereo sound, multiple interaction methods, no moving parts, AR is great, massive selection of launch games, cute and responsive OS etc.
Bad: Battery life isn't great compared to IOS devices, a little fiddle to get games in and out, expensive memory cards.
Comment: The Psvita is for me the true next generation of hand held consoles, it nearly matches a lot of ps3 / 360 titles in graphics and excels them in terms of control methods offered. With a front touch screen and rear touch pad (both capacitive, not resistant), two analogue sticks and motion controls it beats the home consoles on the input methods front, as its all tied in so naturally from the start. Games are reasonably priced given the quality and can range from £20 - £40 so there's variation depending on quality, this is something you don't really see on the home consoles. Digital distribution is also implemented incredibly well and gives apple a run for its money, although it doesn't beat apple. Sony has physical media to back up its digital media so any short falls are somewhat mitigated. Aestheticically the psvita is a beauty to behold, it's completely symmetric and is built incredibly well and has a weighty qualtity to it. The AR offered by it is also leagues above other machines and integrates really well into games. Finally throw in Facebook, twitter, flickr and the rest and it becomes a nearly all in one machine, except for the web browser which works could do with some modernisation.
Good: amazing gaming and a joy to use
Comment: if your comparing the vita with an iPod touch, do not buy the vita. They are completely different devices and in no means are the gaming experiences anything alike!
The vita is for games, more importantly games on the go (to a point) the battery life is not amazing but if you own a 3DS you wont be dissapointed i get more battery life with the vita. The games do cost around 30-40 pounds for the bigger games but again the 3DS games cost the same! well the few that are out and worth buying. See Mario 3D.
The controls are intuitive and a joy to use, most of the time you can still use to original controls if you don't feel comfortable using the touchscreens as much. But itha way theres complete control of your games.
the extra features such as web browsers and apps do not buy this product for these services. they are more of just added extras. that can be useful at times but its created to play games!
Cnet's review is not the best ive seen for the vita techradar give the vita a much better review as they see that you shouldnt compare it to the ipod touch!
but this product is a great buy and if you like the best gaming tech you wont want to be the one without it! (as were seeing from uk gaming charts!)
Good: Deep involving titles
Bad: Nothing yet
Comment: Seriously? No disrespect but getting an ipod gamer to review the Vita is like getting a vegetarian to review steak. There's nothing wrong with what you do but this product is not aimed at you.
Playing games on phones and music players has become a commonplace and fun distraction for most people but that doesn't make everyone a gamer anymore than owning a car means you count driving as one of your hobbies.
If you have the money and enjoy scripted games with plot, characterisation and a full tactile control scheme then the Vita is actually pretty darn good and gives you an HD console experience while away from your sofa.
That said, who doesn't enjoy demolishing the odd pig shelter? :-)
- £197(WiFi), £259(3G)
- £27 8GB Memory Card (from their website)
- £27 game
- Free Order Pack(Previously Pre-Order pack worth £25).
Total = £251(WiFi), £313(3G)
- £209 (WiFi), £259(3G)
- FREE 8GB memory card
- £15 Selected Game
- No Order Pack
Total = £224(WiFi), £274(3G)
So it's cheaper from Amazon without taking the 'Order Pack' into account worth £25. I personally don't think the 'Pre Order Pack' is worth £25 at all.
Comment: What a ridiculous review. If you enjoy gaming on the go then there is nothing that comes close to PS Vita, whether or not you want to spend this amount on a device that is purely for gaming is another matter, but if you want to play console like games on the go then PS Vita is a must have.
