Bad: battery life not as advertised, bad maintainance samsung service
Comment: Make sure you test your Samsung product to be according to what adevrtised when you buy it, especially the battery life. If you do not get the time they say - return the product! Many Samsung laptops come with imperfect battery. They work, but not as long as advertised.
My laptop's battery lasts 7 hours when running just Windows (with no application on top, and reduced screen brightness) and about 5 hours when using it with browising, text editing, etc - the usual applications. The laptop is advertised with up to 11-12 hours battery life. I returned the laptop for repair to a company Samuel King which does product repairs for Samsung (strongly recommended to avoid!!), and they said everything is OK, they do not replace the battery as ... it works. I cannot get a refund as 2 months passed since I bought the machine.
So make sure you test your Samsung battery (and the whole machine) within the grace period when you can still return the machine and get your refund, otherwise you will get a frustrating experiece with Samsung's repair service if the machine still works no matter how poorly and under advertised parameters.
On intelligent lady from Samsung Custemer Service said, when I called them, that their advertised 11 hours of battery file is just an estimate, that's why I do not get the same figure with my 5-7 hours battery life. If 5 to 7 can be approximated by 11, a figure that is more or less the double, then Samsung definitely needs more intelligent employees ...
Comment: Guys, don't be fooled. From the Samsung N220 product page, it says it comes with the "Easy Resolution Manager" tool. This means you can manually go to the tool, and adjust the resolution yourself. I saw a YouTube video of an owner going through various resolutions. While I was at the electronics store, I gave this Netbook a test run, and I was able to adjust the resolution. All you have to do is right click on the desktop, and there you go. Try it for yourselves.
Good: Good Solid Samsung Netbook, Family look now with the excellent R530/730
Comment: At this price, you'd be better off buying a HP/Compaq Mini 311 with Hardware accelerated NVidia Ion graphics. Amazon are punted them out @ £230 with free delivery. Does not quite have the same impressive battery life, but much, much more usable with the 11.6" real estate screen.
Does very nicely pumping out 1080p HD video, via the built in HDMI, to a big screen TV.
Bad: Display resolution
Comment: I don't understand how manufacturers are getting away with selling Windows netbooks with 600px high screens. Some Windows dialogs that open are taller than 600px, and you can't see (or click on) the "ok" or "cancel" buttons at the bottom. This makes them useless in many ways.
I should point out that running Linux will not make a difference - MeeGo and Ubnuntu both have dialogs taller than 600px that can't be adjusted.
You need 720px at the very least for any operating system. (Except Android, which will soon be available for netbooks courtesy of Intel)
