Good: slim and slick and lightweight
Comment: I bought one for £135 used and I am relatively happy with it after cleaning it up and turning everything off that I just do not need. I optimized it for performance, got rid of all auto updates, added four gig to Windows Ready Boost and removed any unnecessary software that I will not need. I got rid of AVG, instead I installed MBAB, hooked up a monitor to the vga, connected a screen via the hdmi. To be honest, after all that, it is working very very fast, faster than what I expected. I tried 1080 video but that was jittery but I had no problems with 720p. I watched Top Gear on iplayer last night and it was smooth. This product is great is you know how to optimize it for performance, otherwise it is your worst nightmare. You cannot expect much from it and I am suprised it only has 1 gig on board ram.
Good: Slim and light, runs Ubuntu 12.04 beautifully. No fan!
Bad: Windows 7 lags in speed; starting up, opening applications
Comment: I agree with Dax. If you install Ubuntu 12,04 beside Windows 7 on the machine you get fast performance in starting up, opening applications and shutting down. I have clocked some shutdowns of Ubuntu 12.04 of 4 to 5 seconds.
For the money ($269.00) Canadian, I like this machine.
Jim from Guelph, Ontario.
Good: Low cost
Bad: Not for casual user incapable of customizing
Comment: Tthis may sound harsh but, the functionality realized with a bit of tinkering turns this device into a tiny full functioning laptop. Set up Dual Boot Win7 ultimate(fresh os reload)/Ubuntu 10.04, Windows 7 running, office 2010, AVG internet security, and used tune up utilities to optimise the install. The real star is Ubuntu on this machine, if you want to give it a try the install is simple and there are loads of vids on youtube if you get stuck! Just seach (installing ubuntu 12.04 dual boot windows 7) YOU WONT REGRET IT! And windows will still be there!
Comment: To finish my review: when asus can't even spell check their support website correctly, how did I expect them to bug check their products effectively, to assure me of their quality?
See for example the spelling of through as 'thru' here: support.asus.com/contactus.aspx?SLanguage=en
Bad: freezes, doesn't load apps, hdmi output is useless, slow processing
Comment: Don't waste your money on one, it's not worth a penny I paid for it. The hdmi output is useless, it doesn't work, the moment you link the notebook to an external screen it freezes. Even word processing is slow and clunky, whatever internet browser I use, regardless of the strong broadband signal strength, web pages don't load. You can buy an iphone 3 for less money, and your phone will be faster and better to browse the internet on and check emails. A REAL SAD DAY FOR ASUS MANUFACTURERS. The quality of this product is so poor, I recommend you do not buy it, save your money and buy something that works. Regards from an unfortunate owner of two of these asus notebooks, who finds them more useful as an expensive paperweight than a computer.
Good: light, fast, wide HDD, programs, pretty and cheap
Bad: the bloody 3h endurance battery
Comment: excellent, friendly user and effective by almost every side. It cannot be compared with larger and more powerful stuff, but it is not designed for this. Gimme it over the tipical tablet any time! I have nothing that praise about this stuff. The only very problematic item is the 3h battery, a little more than a back-up when electricity is not available (for short periods). And this is only to blame about Asus (a 6 elements instead 3 could fix everything). For the rest: i promote it at full power. It is also very handy and friendly (except for some unfair characteristics in the Windows 7 starter search system, but still, not an Asus fault).
Good: Small, light and very portable. Pleasing design. Good battery life.
Bad: Terribly slow in every aspect.
Comment: I bought this netbook as a convenient way to access the web whilst on the move. I wish I hadn't bothered. It takes almost five minutes to open up my inbox and accessing any webpage gives me time to make a coffee and drink it. Dreadfully slow. The only positive thing I can say about it is that is looks good and is easy to carry.
Good: IT IS SMALL AND GOOD FOR ME
Comment: CAN i bay it for 10 euro
Comment: I WNT TO BAY IT FOR 10 EURO PLESSE
