iTunes glitch censors Katy Perry, ignores Cannibal Corpse
If you know me, you'll know I hate Katy Perry, and love death metal. So it was with great pleasure that I see iTunes is 'accidentally' censoring Perry, among other monstrosities, and leaving alone such controversial personal favourites as Cannibal Corpse.
Perry's track Hot 'n' Cold is currently appearing as H*t 'n' Cold, whereas certain Cannibal Corpse classics, such as Hammer Smashed Face and F***ed With A Knife (which only appears censored here on CNET UK, but not within iTunes), remain uncensored. Good job, iTunes!
The BBC reported the glitch this lunchtime, citing such titles as Nirvana's Smells Like T**n Spirit, and I Thought I Saw A P***y Cat by Danny Kaye, as being accidentally censored.
Clearly this is the result of some sort of algorithmic error. Either that, or an enthusiastic Daily Mail reader has spent long enough on the phone to iTunes screaming, "Think of the children!"
If nothing else, the iTunes glitch today slightly makes up for the store marking the Cannibal Corpse lyrics, "Hold her arms / Her mouth taped shut / Screams unheard / Out pour her guts," as explicit, while leaving Katy Perry's lyrics, "Ur so gay and you don’t even like boys / No you don't even like boys," as clean, despite being so utterly demented it could make your eyeballs prolapse.
Maybe Cannibal Corpse wrote that song about Perry.
