HTC HD2
Hail the current king of Windows Mobile smart phones. With a huge, 109mm capacitive touchscreen, plethora of features and beautiful HTC Sense user interface, the responsive and speedy HD2 achieves the near impossible -- making Windows Mobile desirable

HTC Tattoo
The Tattoo has the edge over every other budget handset we've seen, packing into its tiny frame not just the powerful Android operating system, but also HTC's swish Sense user interface. The small resistive touchscreen is disappointing, but bargain hunters will find the Tattoo hard to beat

HTC Touch2
The diminutive Touch2 is the first smart phone we've seen that runs Windows Mobile 6.5, and we're pleased to say that, although not perfect, the operating system is an improvement over previous versions. The Touch2 also benefits from access to the satisfying My Phone online syncing service, and Microsoft's app store

HTC Touch Pro2
The Touch Pro2 is one of the biggest phones we've seen in a long time, but that's not necessarily a bad thing: there's plenty of room for a large, high-resolution touchscreen and spacious, slide-out keyboard. For those who want to send plenty of messages without getting hand cramp, this powerhouse is worth a look

HTC Snap
Clearly inspired by the BlackBerry Curve range, the Snap is one of the better messaging-focused Windows Mobile smart phones on the market. It's easy to type quickly on the brilliant Qwerty keyboard, and it also sports the excellent Inner Circle software, which lets you prioritise messages from your most important contacts

HTC Hero
The HTC Hero is the best Android phone yet. Among many other delights, it boasts a great on-screen keyboard, multitouch functionality and an innovative user interface that smoothes over many of Android's rough edges. While it can occasionally be sluggish, it's a true rival to Apple's iPhone

HTC Magic
If you have an aversion to Apple's iPhone but hanker after a touchscreen smart phone, the HTC Magic will probably fit the bill. It's a truly impressive device, offering tonnes of advanced but easy-to-use features, an excellent touchscreen and speedy performance

HTC Touch Diamond2
The touchscreen Touch Diamond2 ticks all the boxes when it comes to features, including Wi-Fi, HSDPA, a 5-megapixel camera and GPS. It's got plenty of apps on-board, and there's loads more to download, but the TouchFLO interface can't mask Windows Mobile's usability flaws, so it's not the most finger-friendly device

HTC Touch Viva
The relatively inexpensive Touch Viva is a touchscreen Windows Mobile smart phone with a surprisingly snappy interface. It lacks the bells and whistles of higher-end handsets, but handles the basics well and provides an enjoyable email experience -- despite its lack of 3G

HTC S740
The messaging-focused, Windows Mobile-running HTC S740 doesn't break any new ground, but it performs well and has a striking design. With top-class connectivity and an impressive slide-out keyboard, the phone is a viable alternative to a BlackBerry for those who need serious messaging features on the go

HTC Touch 3G
The Touch 3G is an attractive Windows Mobile smart phone that doesn't disappoint in the speed or responsiveness stakes. It's relatively easy to use and has an impressive set of features, but it isn't a great enough advance on the original Touch to challenge the iPhone's supremacy

HTC Touch HD
The HTC Touch HD is HTC's finest Windows Mobile phone yet. A slim casing houses a large, responsive VGA screen, and inside you'll find the heart of a beast: GPS, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and a 3.5mm headphone jack all make for a very smart phone indeed. It's just a shame it doesn't run Android

HTC Touch Pro
In trying to bring elegance, usability and practicality to the Windows Mobile smart phone, HTC has hit on a worthy compromise: a touchscreen for navigation and a slide-out Qwerty keypad for typing emails and editing Office documents. Could this be a serious rival to the iPhone?

HTC Advantage X7510
The HTC Advantage X7510 smart phone is a great piece of kit. We especially liked the haptic Qwerty keyboard and large screen. With Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional OS and 16GB of storage, you have a useful alternative to a laptop for out of office use

HTC Touch Diamond
The HTC Touch Diamond pushes the Windows Mobile interface much closer to touchscreen nirvana. This smart phone is compact but boasts a large screen and is packed with features from GPS to HSDPA. Will it be good enough to compete with the best?

HTC S730
The HTC S730 improves upon its sibling model, the S710, by adding 3G connectivity to its smart phone interface. The Qwerty keyboard is now easier to use, with each key having a raised central area. It also supports two-way video calling and has a microSD slot. Check out this upgrade

HTC TyTN II
For instant access to email and a Qwerty keypad that sits up like a mini-laptop, this newly upgraded model could be the perfect business phone. With its new hard-hitting features including Windows Mobile programs, GPS, Wi-Fi and HSDPA, this smart phone packs a major punch

HTC Touch
HTC firmly denies that the iPhone played any part in the Touch's design, but with such similar styling and a finger-friendly interface, it's impossible not to draw the comparison. But can a Windows Mobile 6 handset really take on the might -- and hype -- of Apple?

HTC S620
HTC's S620 is a Windows Mobile Smartphone that tries very hard to be a fancy mobile email and document manager. It benefits from a wide screen and a keyboard, which makes typing easy. It also has built-in Wi-Fi, which is a real boon, but you may be disappointed that you can't create or edit documents on this phone
