What we think: A typical Sony Ericsson, meaning it's a great handset but won't be winning awards for innovation

"I want to like it, but I don't"
What I like:
mp3 player sound quality and headphones are good, Google maps rocks.
What I don't like:
Camera has no autofocus (previous models had!), Calendar useless.
Review:
I used to own Walkman W610i, which was a good phone, with few faults.
With W595, Sony Ericsson has taken a few steps back.
Major faults:
-the 3.2 MPix camera has no autofocus, thus making a lot worse photos than the 2Mpix camera on the old W610i. Essentially useless!
-Calendar is useless, because reminder beep is too quiet and cant be changed. Whats the point of inserting reminders into calendar if you cant rely on it?
The menu interface is almost the same as W610i but has slower response.
ALthough the mp3 player sound quality is very good, thanks to the in-ear earphones, the player music navigation leaves a lot to wish for. On the old W610i, there was a folder navigation feature, that you could use to explore your music files by filename, but on the W595 you can only identify your files by its ID3 tags, or by _beginnings_ of the file names, because the longer filenames wont fit on the screen. Very inconvenient.
I have not found the "shake control" feature to be useful but,
The Google maps on the phone is a very practical feature and also the Walkmate application, that you can have as background and count your steps you do walking during the day. I actually get out a lot more thanks to this!
