What is it: Sleek looking slider with generally average features
What we think: Music playback is this handset's best feature, though it is a reasonably good all-rounder

We like:
Good music playback; lovely slide mechanism; handy front music playback controls
We don't like:
Short battery life; no headphones included; rubbery number pad; stills are rather flat
You might also need:
microSD cards, PC connectivity cable, headphones
CNET UK judgement:
BenQ-Siemens gives the EL71 a disadvantage by not supplying a headset or PC data cable and by not augmenting the built-in storage with a free flash memory card. One or more of those extras would lift it from being an average handset. As it is, the feature that achieves that is rather good music playback
