Typical price: £280
What is it: 3G slider phone with FM radio
What we think: Well built, if somewhat chunky, the 6280 has plenty of compelling features, including extremely good access to software with the slider closed

We like:
Superb screen; great control without sliding; infrared as well as Bluetooth
We don't like:
Number pad too close to upper section; nowhere near enough built-in memory
CNET UK judgement:
Nokia's 6280 is ruggedly built, with a solid slider mechanism and good access to features without needing to use the slider at all. There's a nice library of software built in, and Nokia provides all you need for synchronising calendar, contacts and so on with your PC. Our main grumble is that there is nowhere enough built-in memory

If you're looking for 3G in a slide phone, look no further. The 6280's big screen and chunky body conceal a slide-out keypad, although the interface lets you use most functions with the phone closed. Is it a big hit, or just big?

Nokia 6280: Chunky mobile monkey
The Nokia 6280 features 3G and a 2-megapixel camera in a form factor that feels solid and great to hold. But beware if you have small pockets: it's a mighty beast
