So, you want to buy your girlfriend a phone. Here's how it works: there are girls who like pink phones, and girls who don't. And then there are girls who say they don't like pink phones, but secretly they do. You don't want to go there. Bottom line: if your girlfriend stops you outside one of the mobile phone shops, points to one of the phones on this page and says, "Wow, isn't that amazing (or pretty, or cute)," you're on safe ground. If she says, "Blimey, isn't that pink," stick with roses, chocolates and expensive jewellery.
Once you're sure about the pink thing, there's a plethora of phones to choose from. The sassiest option is the Razr V3, which combines slim lines with a shocking pink exterior. Look for matching accessories, including Motorola's H500 headset in hot pink. LG's U880 is a more saccharine shade, but does support 3G, making it suitable for romantic video calls. The LG C3300 was launched in a relatively restrained maroon (aka 'dark pink'), but now comes in pale pink as well. Both versions loiter on the edges of the pink phone spectrum rather than whole-heartedly embracing the concept -- so if your girlfriend thinks you lack commitment, steer clear. For the complete pink experience, look instead to the Siemens CL75 Poppy, a pink phone with a pink flower on the front and a dangly heart-shaped charm with a pink Swarovski crystal.
Other choices include the Samsung SGH-E530, which comes in lavender pink. If your girlfriend can get past the female-specific 'lifestyle' software, it's one of the better specified girlphones, with a megapixel camera and MP3 playback. T-Mobile also has a pink version of the recently released Nokia 6111.

| Review summary | Technologically it's last year's phone, but it's still hard to go past the Motorola Razr V3 for looks. Reborn in pink, it's an attention-grabbing phone that makes a bold statement about its owner Read full review |
The U880 has been called LG's answer to Motorola's RAZR, but the U880's plasticy feel means that, despite its thin and light nature, the comparison doesn't really stand up. Standing alone, the U880 is nicely featured, small and light, and, we have to admit, fairly funky. If the pink were any other colour, we'd be happier Read full review |
For those people who think pinkiness is next to godliness the CL75 Poppy will be the handset of their dreams, for it is pink, pink, pink (oh, and sliver). If you don't care what your phone looks like and want one with a decent range of features at a fairly low price, the CL75 Poppy would be worth a second glance Read full review |
Compact and easy to use, the C3300 is a good-value option for anyone looking for a basic handset. The feature set is limited, but the well-designed interface enables you to make the most of the functions it offers Read full review |
