Typical price: £230
What is it: Small mobile phone with Walkman music player and capacious 256MB memory
What we think: A chubby handset with a paradoxical mix of great features right alongside irritating ones

We like:
Lots of built-in memory; good desktop software with connection cables; great camera and gaming ergonomics
We don't like:
No memory expansion slot; keypad buttons don't feel right; weeny self portrait mirror
CNET.co.uk judgement:
The W550i is a small but chunky handset with a bevy of neat features but some odd omissions. For example: it's a music phone with 256MB of built-in memory, but no expansion slot; it has ambitions to replace your dedicated music player, but audio playback quality isn't quite up to scratch; and there's a camera with good features and usability, but a self-portrait mirror the size of a pinhead
