Good: Camera, Connectivity, Exchange emails & Android
Bad: No 2.1+ Android (Yet), Shaky battery life
Comment: Im a tough phone critic, but after being an early adopter of the iPhone and then everyone and their granny in the UK following suit, I wanted something that was different, cool and media savvy. This is the X10. Don't get me wrong it has some flaws like one day your battery lasts all day even tho you've hardly put down and the next it dies after being barely touched! However that being said there is Android 2.1 on it's way (better be) and the phone packs a hefty multimedia punch with Music, Photos and Videos all neatly put into the mediascape app. If you like an "iPhone .. but not an iPhone" smartphone this is a good phone for you.
Good: Everything bar
Bad: Battery Life
Comment: This phone is great even though it running the older Android this phone is still an excellent phone. Camera is brilliant, screen is large with auto brightness, its fast and does everything you need it to do. According to some this phone gets an update later in the year to Android 2.1 or 2,2 then the phone will be complete and nothing else will come close......not usually a big fan of SE but on this occasion they have got it right
Good: Ease of use, best phone to use to ease into touch screen technology, screen is beautiful.
Bad: The size of the screen ideally would mean that is comes with some sort of screen cover but i bought one myself.
Comment: This is my first touch screen phone as I'm usually good with technology but not at all in this case.I can honestly say that it was a delightful transfer and the phone it self has a hearty amount of sony, android features giving you the best of both worlds.
I still can't get over how much you can get from the android market without spending a single penny.
The phone is a fluent and natural experience and i would recommend it.
the battery life can be a wee bit small compared to a conventional button phone but then again it's got GPS, WIFI and all those other battery leeching features
Hope I helped
Good: Good camera, Huge Display, Nice battery cover, 1Ghz processor,
Bad: Messaging needs update (you have to manually input the number where you want to send the sms, or just go to Contacts shortcut and browse the list and just send the sms from there - Very impractical), No Call button on contacts(you have to tap the phonenumber), Stucked in blue skin theme (i prefer black or white), phone is always turned on when charging,
Comment: It's a smart phone but not smart enough. There's a lot of things to work on - Messaging is not good, imagine you have to memorize the number where you want to send the sms or else you're doomed. Better use the Contacts/Phonebook (Tap on the person you want to send sms and then click the option messaging from there, it's a lot of hard work sending SMS). No call button when you browse phonebook, you have to tap the number to call your friends, (by the way the number is not that big so you have to be precise with tapping your finger). This phone is not suitable when you're in a hurry and you want to call or text someone. With regard to User Interface(UI), you're like looking at the sky, it's all blue. No option to change it, even if you download theme from android market, it's still the same. And if you're in an emergency situation and you want your battery to be charged quickly, it won't be possible coz the phone is always turned on when plugged in to the charger. The loudspeaker is not that good either, but the video resolution is very good when browsing youtube. We can live with those flaws but it would be much better if these things will be fixed.
On the positive side, the onboard browser is very good, it has the basic stuff(bookmark, new window, search etc), Internet browsing is fun -thanks to the 4.0 screen. No questions with connectivity, it has everything(Wifi, bluetooth), No flash though but ther youtube client works very well.
By the way as per android OS, you have to have the application killer app or else your battery wont last longer,(android OS doesn't close applications when you exit them).
Overall not bad - you have a good camera and an android smartphone
There's still hope for the flaws, there's a rumor that there will be an update on software, fingers crossed.
Good: Android Apps - what fun
Bad: no blogger photo link - one or two software niggles in v1.6
Comment: The X10 is fab. Nice weighty feel to it. Huge screen. Responsive touch screen.
The Beeb player app gets iplayer. Android is the new "walkman" of the 2010's
One day, all phones will be like this !
Had it a week and still haven't made a phone call - so much more to enjoy
Good: Phenomenally bright HD screen, amazing responsive, brilliant camera, fast connectivity and social-networking integration
Bad: Older version of Android, no multi-touch and bad camera light.
Comment: It comes with a great camera and amazing HD screen, very fast response when opens and closes apps. Sony Ericsson has put a lot thoughts on Xperia X10, however the software needs some improvement as it's using all the battery life if you don't have the correct profile running on low brightness and ensure that there aren't apps running in the background, which has been improved on Android 2.0, Although, software's not bad at all, it just doesn't allow the phone to provide its fullest abilities. I guess that it's good to know that there are rooms for improvements.
The 4 inch screen and an 8.1-megapixel camera are one of the best features on this phone, they make you think that you are holding a proper thin smart camera than a mobile phone. Plus seeing videos is incredible quality.
Timescape and Mediascape, both are great software idea and unique but they need to be improved. Some apps out there similar to them are running better and looks better. Multiple clicks to get into the messages and social networking and several clicks to get you back to Timescape. On Mediascape has a different interface and not so friendly but it's OK I would say. I just hope that Sony Ericsson will work on new software release with more options to choose.
Over all is a great mobile phone. I also have an Iphone and haven't been playing with it after got in hold of this phone, it's a brilliant machine and glad that I got it. Just to think that it's open source and there way much more to come makes me happy to have it. Only if Apple after releasing OS 4.0 will be as good as this one.
