Good: Great for gamers
Bad: I am not a gamer
Comment: I won this phone last week but I am not a gamer.
I would like to trade it for a Samsung Galaxy S II.
Good: Amazing specs which are dedicated to gaming and Android Gingerbread 2.3.3.
Bad: On the bulky side
Comment: I can't see how you can go wrong with this phone, the specs are amazing and I have not seen a force close since I have bought the phone in April, I have installed apps such as n64droid which run smoothly on the phone. Plus you can get some games for free from gameloft ^_^ which to be honest are amazing in terms of gameplay and graphics and are worth £3 to everyone else.
Good: Best mobile gaming experience out there!
Bad: software (ps pocket, ps suite, all feels unfinished)
Comment: This is an unfair review, and i completely disagree, its a little unfinished but sony have announced another 20 games recently, there bringing out more devices which are playstation certified (s1 and s2 tablets) which will sure give this a boost and you can make the ps one games have full screen by going into options, and if a mobile reviewer is finding the games confusing to download...he's in the wrong job.
Good: Gaming, Android Apps, MP3 sound quality. Ideal replacment for your gaming, mp player device.
Bad: Software can crash, Needs more internal Memory, Battery Life
Comment: I bought one of these and TBH it is a quality effort from Sony. The ability to download emulators and games from consoles make this a worhwhile purchase if you like your games. Another thing that I am impressed with is the sound quality whilst playing mp3's. I had compared this to another top of the range sony mp3 player and it is on a par if not better. Had a few issues where software has crashed but since the updates its been stable. Its well built as well, the buttons are solid and looks like they are going to last.
Good: Slide out gamepad, android 2.3 gingerbread
Bad: Only 50 games at launch
Comment: I have tried this phone in my local phone shop and I love it. Graphics on the games are great, sound is great, camera is good for a smartphone. I can't say much more but can't wait to buy it soon!!
Good: Seems a good idea
Bad: Needs some work
Comment: Think when the next generation of this phone come out its going to be amazing
Good: Awesome Phone and also an awesome gaming device
Bad: not an 8mp camera
Comment: I see many people commenting that this phone isn't for them, maybe the dual shock control hidden underneath the phone is the giveaway that this phone is for gamers.
I am a gamer.
I have bought all the consoles and either purchased or played heavily on all of the handhelds on the market. I have an iPhone and have enjoyed playing settlers and football manager on it but quickly get bored and fed up, touch screen gaming just isn't that good.
The Xperia Play is an awesome phone, it has Android 2.3 which is great and comes with all (if not more) of the features that smart phones currently have. It is extremely customisable and its difficult not to notice how quick the phone works.
Another good point is the Android market place, you can download emulators which then allow you to play ROMs, these are games from other systems such as n64, playstation 1, game boy etc.
I see people saying that the Arc is a better phone etc but I honestly cannot understand how they justify this, fair enough the arc has a better screen and what not but not only is the Xperia Play an AWESOME phone but its an AWESOME gaming device aswell, best of both worlds if you ask me.
I would also recommend not to look at the scores on this website as they seem to be fairly WRONG compared to the 50+ reviews I have read, with the vast majority giving the phone really good reviews.
One last point, if you not into games then obviously this phone simply isn't for you, the phone side is great but if you dont require a dual shock pad then go for something else.
Bad: Missing L2 & R2
Comment: This kritik sure is putting this wonderful piece of hardware down.
To play the Playstation games in fullscreen mode just push the options menu and set to fullscreen stupied.
this phone is the one you want if you are a gamer. trust me. Just use emulators and all is free.
i have to agree that the software culd be better but, im sure an update will fix that in time. Things like Landscape mode in the apps menu and as stated in the review all games in the Xperia Play menu shuld be shown there. wuld be nice if we culd just add programes to that menu manualy.
The only real issue i can think of with this phone is the lag of L2 & R2 shoulder buttons wich is needed for some games with the PSX and N64 emulator.
Other than that, dont hesitate. this is the best gaming phone out there and you want regret it.
i hope to see L2 & R2, 720P resoulution and ofc dual core in Xperia Play 2 and perhaps a build in laser pico projector wuld be nice.
Great job Sony Ericsson ;-)
Good: feels premium, its fast and the playstation controls make games playable
Bad: screen is dim, needs more playstation games
Comment: im really impressed with this phone. camera is good gaming is really good and its fast, id easily say its better than alot of phones on the market, when more games come out for this exclusive this will become even better. all round a real decent phone
