Good: Superb design and features

Bad: Lack of wi-fi and HD video recording - not a smartphone

Comment: Judged in isolation and not as to whether this is a smartphone or not, this device is an excellent device which not only looks extremely elegant and appealing but is capable of taking great imagery, like its timeless predecessor, the K800. Only the lack of wifi and being considered out of date now diminishes its appeal. It was an excellent cybershot device and one of SE's best.

Good: Camera, Battery life, keypad and Size

Bad: internet connectivity, sluggish response (sometimes) cost.

Comment: this phone is very good, the battery life lasts a good 2 days without too much hassle, and internet usage although it can be quite slow/ not work. the camera is amazing and the design for flipping the camera in and out is a very good work of design. its good, clear but small screen is good, but could be bigger.
the touch screen elements for camera features are also brilliant, and the rang of colours and designs for this phone make it look like a work of art.
one of sony ericssons best!

Good: camera (not bad), size and easy to use

Bad: keeps breaking and turning off

Comment: I've had the c902 for nearly 2 years, since getting this phone it has had to be sent away twice to have the buttons repaired as they kept falling off, at first i thought it was something i had done to cause this, but just this morning while browsing my music i've found the buttons are falling off again, this must be some kind of design fault in the phone, it would be interesting to here if anyone else has had this same problem. I have owned a few sony ericsson phones and i have had no problems with any of them up till now, don't think i will have another after this.

Good: Takes good photos.

Bad: It breaks. It locks up. Poor video quality.

Comment: I have had this phone for under a year and within the first six months it broke and had to be sent off to repair. Now the keypad has fallen off.
It is utter crap.
I would not recommend it to anybody.
Also, if you are running an application on it and you receive a text or a call, it has a tendency to lock up which is most frustrating.

Good: Great camera, good build quality, works all the time

Bad: no wifi

Comment: Before I launch into this review I have owned a couple ofT Sony Ericsson mobile phones (w900i and K800) and also a couple of Nokias (6630 and n70) and one LG (The Renoir.) As a phone compared to all recent other sony ericssons the build quality is back to what it should be; a good metal case and chassis and robust keys and buttons. I have subjected this phone to the usual drops, dust knocks and day to day(pretty heavy) use. My two friends that own sony ericssons have almost lost faith with them having not owned this phone after a string of rubbish models they have had. Faults they have discovered on their phones include crashing, locking and turning off. I can confirm with this phone that I have had no problems. I purchased this phone on the strength of other reviews and I was not dissapointed. Whilst not a smart phone (Iphone,HTC HD or Blackberry storm) from experience with friends and family I can confrim that the battery life is much better and the phone is great with WAP, the phone has edge and in most areas(I live in a rural location with no 3g) has good access. The camera is the best feature however, yes its 5mpixel and yes its got a flash and autofocus, I have found that out and about at parties and in pubs is better than my 4mpixel cannon digital camera. The touch screen controls for the camera look cool and work but are not needed in my opinion as the os is good enough without. The phone does work with vista and windows 7 if you download the new PC suite and is perfectly PC friendly on XP and 2000 with the supplied disc. If you need a great camera phone that does better video than the iphone 3gs without spending the extra four hundred extra pounds sterling then this phone does it all. Like i said no wifi but this phone feels well made and has lsated with me(unlike other phones.)

Good: Camera, ease of use, size

Bad: some buttons a bit fiddly, PC suite wouldnt' work on Vista!

Comment: Ok so I've had this for a couple of weeks now. I'm a SE man, sorry I just don't like Nokia's, i find their GUI annoying, their build quality tacky and their battery life on phones is shocking!

First thing to say is its size, slighty bigger then the K850, but a lot thinner, A LOT, so much so i keep thinking i've left somewhere cos i can't feel it in my pocket!, its also light. But its well made, nothing feels flimsy, its made with good quality materials.

The camera is good, not great in low light conditions, but the touch screen buttons around the screen are easy to use. Its more than good enough for the drunken night out pics which is what most people use there camera for! And in dayligth produces great pics. Haven't tried video yet!

The buttons take a while to get used to they, some of them are abit fiddly and if you have fat fingers I can imagine you pressing 2 buttons at once by accident, but you soon get used to it.

Volume out the earpiece could be better, its nowhere near as loud as the K850 was, i'm hoping a firmware upgrade will fix that!

One thing I found was I couldn't get PC suite to work on Vista, it would install ok (the CD version is XP only so you have to download the newer version for vista). but every time I tried to sync it would crash. I ended up having to do a manual copy of my outlook contacts. I called the Tech Support line, and basically they didn't have a clue, if I had let them I think they would have asked me to re-install vista! It works 100% on XP. just want to make that clear! Vista is a shocking OS, alot of things don't work on it! MS should be embarrassed about it!

So overall, you could say its a K850 in a nicer, lighter shell, if you can upgrade free then its worth having, if you're a bit geeky and don't mind paying a bit, it might be worth waiting for the C905 which is gunna have an 8 megapixel camera. But i'm impressed with this 902, sony have brought another good phone out, sure it doesn't do anything "New" but it doesn't everything very well, and i'd prefer that then something gimiky that doesn't really work that well!
