Good: The style, menu layout, keyboard.

Bad: Camera, Messages, Shuts self down rarely.

Comment: My phone is a Genio Slide, it's the third phone to be bought out in the Genio range (after the QWERTY and touch.) I love my phone. It lacks in a few places but is strong in others, but now phone is perfect, not even an iPhone or Blackberry.

Appearence.

As you can see, it is a very attractive phone. It's nicely curved and it fits together nicely. The red really stands out as well, it would be nicer if it came out in more colours as well though. I think the three buttons on the front (dial, phone down and centre) look really nice.

Home Screen.

It has three home/wallpaper screens. You can customise these with widgets such as clocks, facebook, twitter, callendars, event notifications etc. You can also have three different wallpapers so there's not need to spend ages choosing one.

Menu Screen

You also have three menu screens, with a variety of things to press. It comes in IM already installed as well as facebook, wifi, myspace, radio, bluetooth and a calculator. All handy things. You can change the picture at the back and well as witch and move around the widgets.

Messages

You can text message, multimedia message and email off this phone, although I do have problems doing this. I find it very, very difficult to set up and email, I have tried multiple time and I can't do it. It also can't send a multi-media message because it says my settings are wrong. I try to change the settings but it still doesn't work. Also, you can view your text message in two ways: one in the usual text message format, and two as a coversation in speech bubbles. The annoying things is, you can't see everything someone has written in the bubbles, it takes off some of the words so you have to look at it in text message mode which gets very frustrating. So there are quite a few faults with this.

Internet

I haven't had that many problems with the internet. Although I can't find my history, which is annoying, the internet is very good. Not the quickest to load, but not the slowest either. It's very easy to use and I really like it.

Files and camera

The camera is decent, it does what it's supposed to: take pictures. But once you press the button to take the picture, it takes the picture about 3 seconds after which is annoying. Also you can't get any cool themes to put around your pictures, only the usual black and white, sepia etc. When you to view the pictures, they're blury for a second before they come back to normal, which is very annoying if you're in a hurry.

Good: qwerty keyboard is okay.

Bad: screen, freeze, music volume, camera, turns self off, touch screen, battery

Comment: This phone is rubbish, i've had it for 2 years and has done nothing but play up. the camera takes up all your battery and doesn't last long. It turns itself of when it wants. freezes most of the time. The music volume is the worst i've ever heard on a phone, the screen scratches easily. If the phone freezes it deletes all your memory. I would advise you not to get this phone!

Good: The slide out keyboard

Bad: I an now on my third handset, and it still overheats, and after two to three months the slide mechanism becomes loose, which means the slighest nudge opens this, and means 'pocket dialing' becomes a real problem. I also feel the camera is difficult to operate.

Comment: I've had Samsungs in the past, and nver had a problem, but this the worst phone I have ever had!

Good: Nice size qwerty keyboard, Good quality touch screen. WiFi

Bad: Low quality camera, Music sound quality

Comment: The Samsung Genio slide is a phone that really does say "A decent smartphone doesn't have to cost a fortune." I bought this a few months ago and It really stood out as a useable, reliable phone that, although has the properties of a smartphone, doesn't empty your pocket as much as its competitors.

First things to note is the QWERTY keyboard, nicely spaced with appropriate buttons and not flimsy or likely to break. The second thing you may note is that it made of a stronger plastic than the Samsung genio touch, which had a tendancy to break and snap. Other helpful functions include apps like facebook, bebo, twitter, accuweather and many others to download.

Another thing to note is the 3G+ capability meaning you get signal in a large amount of the world. This also means mobile internet is quick and easy. One major function it lacks if voice calling. Even with a headset it does not have the function.

The 1st thing you notice as you turn it on is a very high quality image from the screen. Its bright and vivid without burning your eyeballs out. It has the balence correct between dull and painfully bright. This quality is maintained in all parts of the software including menus, games and images. The camera has its problems however I will cover that later

The personal speaker quality is very clear. Voices are as if the person you are speaking to is actually talking next to you. However unfortunatley the same cannot be said for the loud speaker. The music quality is rather low, and incredibley tinny. If you run an MP3 file, the sound quality is at its best and rather clear however videos and other sound files are rather unclear. The headphones do make up for a large amount of this with their amazing sound quality.

As we are on videos, the camera quality is unfortunatley rather low too. A lack in features also lowers my rating however a good clear image outcome does give it a boost but it is very difficult to get one as the camera does not give a smooth motion, it rather jolts around so getting a still image is difficult. The camera's autofocus needs work as it often focuses on the background and not on the people.

Overall, It is a good phone to add as a cheap and affordable smartphone with all the things you need. A good phone however it is more suited to
teenagers rather than buisness people.
