Bad: The main software does not work neither with Win XP, nor with Win 7! Drivers do not install
Comment: Great smartphone. Unfortunately the software Kies wich is fundamental in order to download pictures etc on the PC is not Windows 7 or Windows XP compatible (version 1.5.1, Aug. 18, 2010, downloadable for any samsung download page). However Samsung writes it is. So no possibility to install drivers on many PC's! I will give it back.
Bad: No flash or photo LED
Comment: What sort of dyslexic fool designs a modern day smartphone - no matter how good everything else is - with a photo LED or flash? Oh wait, HTC did with Hero - another good phone that was a flop because of a slow processor and lack of photo flash.
Up until this point I had been quite impressed by the Galaxy S but, with no photo LED it's definitely not for me.
Comment: Picking mine up on wednesday, hopefully...... and yes it support 720p at 30 fps
Comment: does it support hd recording?
Good: It just works, and does everything I want
Bad: Maybe battery life - but other reviews said it was good.
Comment: Compared to the Motorola Droid I had previously, this is night and day. It was easy to get going and didn't insist on a Google account the moment it was turned on. A very pleasant gadget indeed.
Good: Ticks all the right boxes, great hardware, great OS, good APPS,
Bad: Just something seems to be missing from the user experience it provides
Comment: On paper this phone ticks all the right boxes and has all the functional attributes to make choosing it a no brainer. BUT, based on reviews and videos I have seen there still seems to be something lacking and I think its the actual user experience it provides, it lacks that something that separates great phones from top spec phones. While it beats the HTC Desire spec wise I am still leaning slightly towards the Desire for my next phone. Probably because a great product has a personality and users develop an affinity to it, for example the old I-Phones, Macs etc, I have seen that affinity with the Desire but with the Galaxy even in the most positive of reviews its just a good product and it seems to lack that intangible X-factor.
Good: FUN AND STYLISH
Bad: STILL THINKING............
Comment: Not really one for the latest gadget but coulnt resist this and love what I have used it for recently. Still trying to iron out a few glitches but I think its me more than the Galaxy. Think my husband wants one now...tut cant do anything without him.
Bad: plastic case
Comment: Great phone, works really well, 10 out of 10
Good: DIVX, MKV etc.... PLAYS PS1 GAMES..... Also snes, megadrive etc.... FAST..... GREAT CAMERA
Bad: some of the samsung software runs a little slow but I dont really use that anyway..... No flash
Comment: This phone is amazing!!!
I got a htc desire on contract and a month after my wife got a galaxy and after using the galaxy for 30 mins I swapped with her.
It plays all sorts of video files on its gorgeous 4" screen and plays a bundle of different emulators(The PS1 emu is ace). I have google maps navigation (free) and co pilot (for using abroad or when no internet connection)..
People bang on about the Iphone having more apps/beter games...... well I say this -
There is pretty much an app to match anything the iphone has and games wise..... PS1, SNES, MEGADRIVE, GAMEBOY, NES..... I think that pretty much beats anything on the iphone market.
The web browser is superb with pinch to zoom (ALSO REFLOWS THE TEXT IF YOU DOUBLE TAP AFTER ZOOM). and it is kitted out with wi-fi b/g/n and bluetooth 3.0.
Not sure what people are saying about the battery being bad (faulty unit maybe) cause I get a day of HEAVY usage out of it.
My only 2 complaints are the samsung apps slow down a little (something I'm reckoning 2.2 will rectify) and there is no camera flash to support the amazing camera (easily on par with my old nokia n97, n96 etc). Neither of these are deal breakers so go out and get the best phone available right now and dont be suckered in by the iphone hype (my cousin was and now wishes he had the galaxy s)
Comment: looks very good hope to do the deal with Vodafone by the end of August , am dumping CPW O2
