Bad: internet access and social networking
Comment: i cannot stay connected to the internet, and cant access facebook.does anyone have any tips?
Bad: everything, simbian screen speaker anoying buttons battery life
Comment: The N8 is clunky in every way it's 1990's technology at best!
If you've used android then avoid this nokia.
Android is new century technology.
The only good thing on this phone is the camera and video and hdmi output.
But as a "Phone" it is rubbish!
Good: The camera is excellent
Bad: Everything else, in particular its tendency to switch itself off and back on again at random!!!
Comment: I got my Nokia N8 in prference to an iPhone having had Nokias in the past and liked them, this was a big mistake. Within 3 days the phone began to switch iteslef off at random. I took it back and got it replaced, this one lasted about 4 months then started switching itself off although to be fair it did switch itself back on again.
Eventually I got so fraustrated I simply stopped using it and bought myself an iPhone 4 - best decision ever - no more fraustration and a much more user friendly phone all round - though I do miss the camera.
My verdict - do yourself a favour and pass this one by on the other side of the road!
Good: Solid build quality, Best in Business Camera, 720P Recording, HDMI, Video player Codec Support, USB Connectivity
Bad: Could be bit faster
Comment: I really like it, a good Nokia smartphone finally. Symbian isn't all that bad, for me as a Nokia user it is familiar, easy and smooth enough to use.
Good: The camera. looks cool
Bad: A complete nightmare unless You are a techno geek
Comment: I got my N8on a free upgrade. It was delivered to my door at 09.45 and returned 25 hours later.
The fact that You can make telephone calls with the device seems of little consequence.
If You are A 44 Year old Luddite then it is'nt for You. NIGHTMARE. The battery was half depleted in just over an hour. I had to go on to power saving mode within a couple of hours. Multi home screens are confusing + it auto connects you even if You go onto one of the home screens by mistake,( wich You will do }. I went back to my trusty n86 less than 24 hours after getting the N8 and what a relief that was.
You cannot take a video then play it on Your Tv. CRAP. No user manuel.
Yes it is amazing what this thing can do, but so is Your computer at home.
VERY POOR BATTERY LIFE. Pointless purchase even if it was Free
Dont wast Your time.
Bad: every thing
Comment: this is my first nokia phone and it will be my last, i got this on contract and not long after i had it things started to go wrong , emails wont sync iv got to shut my phone on and off all the time , iv had to do full reset 2 weeks after i had it, and theres loads more that it wont do. once my contract is up i will be going back to the android phone.
Bad: nokia indifference
Comment: I gave my N8 phone to my kid. Now he is fed up with it crashing here and then. I brought it to nokia care people. It is still happening. Resetting N8 is a regular habbit to get out of the crash. I do not have any games installed from ovi to minimise possible conflicts.I agree it is well manufactured but obviously the software is causing problems. I was inform to wait for the anticipated updates from nokia. When will that take place?
Good: Cheap at many places now
Bad: bad trade-in valuation (gets worse when warranty runs out)
Comment: People giving 5 stars are hard working salesmen
Good: camera and the Nokia feel; nothing else
Bad: contact list, email, calendar, ovi, power supply
Comment: Late comment as I owned one on the first day of launch; first I couldn't transfer outlook contacts so I had to use old PC suite; then calendar did not sync; email encryption is NOT available so company email cannot be setup; crashed all the time; had to buy document readers; many other problems ...; then died within a week.
Don't tell me rubbish: eg. to press power button 20s to reset_ this does not work with N8; to change outlook profile_ only shameless Nokia employees gives this advice as new profile means it is not you; Nokia programmers were paid too much for their rubbish they made!
I was a loyal Nokia customer but now I know Nokia is a hollow silver frame.
Good: Stunning camera , great sound , very configurable
Bad: Browser and social
Comment: This is a great piece ok kit. Solidly built and easy to use. I'm a business user , so call quality and signal are important . Both are faultless on the N8.
The camera is very good , as is the video. Both are amazing in low light. I've videoed a couple of gigs with excellent result . Sound recording is also very good in high volume venues.
The only issues I had were solved by installing Opera and Gravity. Looking forward to future UI updates ( PR2.0 ) .
Not really bothered about thousands of useless apps , so OVI seems ok to me . PC connectivity and control of the phone is good . I often send texts and modify software from the PC . Love the USB feature. i occasionally stick the mouse in it just to play.
I hope it lasts as long as the N96 I had. This will be my fourth Nokia N series ( 91 , 95 ,96 ) , after several other manufacturers . Not disappointed.
I am mystified by all the press negativity . I tried all the usual suspects before choosing this phone. I'm also sure it's not for everyone . A phone that will reward those with a bit of nouse and willingness to spend time on personalisation.
