Good: OS, Screen
Comment: I guess it will end up be a Marmite type of thing when it come to the OS (nearly all the negatives in this review are due to the prescriptions of MS BTW), you either love it or hate it. I love it. It is fun but brilliant in design. I have moved from an IPhone (via BB Bold 9900 - we all make mistakes) and I really recommend this if your primary use of your phone is messaging and social networking. If not, wait 6 months for the app selection to grow and new handsets to arrive.
Comment: good phone, easy to use, few lock ups and freezes but then switch off and on again, then back good as new....
Good: Look, feel, OS.
Bad: Battery life, needs better apps
Comment: Ditched my iPhone for this, and haven't regretted it. Much as I love iOS (I've just bought an iPad to use at home), the Lumia's a much better Phone and mobile communication device. The phone's beautiful in the flesh, comfortable to hold and use, nicer to make calls with and holds onto a signal better than the iPhone. It looks beautiful in the flesh, nicer than the hard edged iPhone 4, or the various slabby, oversized handsets. It also has a beautiful screen; colours seem to jump out of the AMOLED display, and black is really black. Windows Phone 7.5 is the best thing Microsoft's done, much more intuitive than iOS once you get used to it. I love the live tiles which constantly update and the way your contacts and social networks are integrated. The Lumia even has a decent, usable satnav out of the box. And it comes with a nice silicone cover which barely changes the phone's appearance.
Two downsides. One, the battery life's not great; with average use during the day, you'll be charging it by the evening, so you get used to charging in the car. Two, the app range is a little limited and buggy, though I've been able to find equivalents of most of my favourite iOS apps. Hopefully the selection will improve, and the quality become more polished with time.
I heartily recommend the Lumia 800. It's refreshingly different both in terms of hardware and software, and it's nice to see Nokia back on form.
Comment: Dan - The Windows button is a touch-sensitive area on the screen rather than a physical button
Good: Screen is good quality, Carl Zeiss camera lense, WP7.5 is amazing, smooth.
Bad: No front facing camera.
Comment: I'd be interested to see how this phone compares side by side against other WIndows Mobile phones...
From what I am reading there is nothing setting it apart from other phones running this operating system. I was hoping Nokia would be offering something unique to WinMob, maybe like how HTC have the Sense skin over their Android phones...
You turn on this Nokia Lumia 800 and could be running any other device with this OS!
Nokia Drive and music maybe unique to Nokia devices, but you can easily install Sat Nav and Music apps on to other WinMob phones too.
Comment: You say that the phone is expensive, costing £467 SIM-free, which is the highest price I have heard. It can be found for £399 on pay as you go easily. Did you pick the most expensive price just to prove a point?
Good: internal memory of 16GB and 512 Ram make it the phone performance speedy and browser system is typical good and of it's CPU is good about 1.4ghz and camera is cool in what am seeing..........I love Nokia cos it's Best
Bad: NONE.....cant even see anything wrong wit the feature...
Comment: I john Bakare love and want it cos is one of the best smart phone of the season....i will like to have one....NOKIA best producer of Smart Phone...NOKIA is always my best mobile phone since have been buying smart phone.I really need it,and how can i get the smart phone....
Good: Display, Camera
Bad: Design, Processor, No front Camera
Comment: Why does it have a low range processor, and why there is not a front facing camera for this price range? Nokia still should learn from Samsung....
