Good: QWERTY, social networking, camera

Bad: battery life, build quality, moto blurr, glitches

Comment: Personally the Motorola Dext was perfect on paper, I loved android phones and qwerty phones too, perfect mix. The phones social networking was very good it linked up my accounts quickly and rendered feeds very well. Camera 5mp no flash which seemed odd as the camera would benefit massively with a flash.
My main issues were the battery life and glitches. Glitches maybe due to androids earlier operating systems always closing apps down ( force close icon) every now and then. But this is nothing compared to the battery life. This may have been my model however, it was rubbish. 6- hours of battery life. I would need to take my charger set to university ENOUGH SAID!!!
When the phones was working it was pretty good however, always a short lived experience due to the dulling battery.

Good: Looks nice, Cheap Contract Deal, has Features I like.

Bad: Only on Orange, BREAK. Slow

Comment: Basically, Orange aren't ever good at sorting any problem out, and you can only get this phone on Orange, so good luck there.
The touchscreen gets slower and slower. Battery last a day, but not a day and a night, so if you go out after work/town it'll die before you get home, for sure. Might last until 10pm/11pm if you have it on full charge if you leave at 1pm/2pm.
Very easily breaks, but I guess that's because it's cheap for the features and style it is.
If it did what it said on the box, it would be perfect. It just breaks too easily.
This is the second one I had, as they sent a faulty one, then after 8 months it's broken again, out of Orange warranty, which means I have to pay to send it to Motorola.
So overall. MEEH.

Good: meh.. cameras ok i guess

Bad: its jus not good

Comment: where to begin.. the touchscreen is rubbish, its slow and unresponsive at times i find myself havin to use the slide out keyboard which means it has to change view which slows it down more. e.g. when endin a call il hit end call button it will take its time endin. you will also find it quite annoyin to use touchscreen to txt. i had the first iphone and its touchscreen was so much better despite been years older. also the apps ran smoother on iphone but that could have bn the my OS or the app.
the processor isnt great and android arent upgradin the OS to froyo or whatever which is highly annoyin and with dext still run 1.5 then u wont b able to use newer apps comin out on the market
Truly not worth the money!! get an anythin but stand clear of this.. motorola havent been good since v3im.

Good: OS

Bad: OS

Comment: i have no longer got this phone but thought to get the word out. i had a call from orange earlier today 17/aug/10, she didnt actually say the dext isnt getting 2.1 she said it takes time because motorola have to finish the upgrade then send it to orange who will then change it to meet their requirments.... orange then have to get it checked again by motorola and im guessing google as well.... so for all you dext lovers ( im one) maybe hope yet... fingers crossed..... oh i got htc hero now nice but doesnt compare to dext social skills.....

Good: Motoblur, slide out keyboard, and the browser

Bad: No Multitouch, Android 1.5,

Comment: The phone is a good size and easy to use. Status updates are so easy to do with the Dext, and the browser is great over wifi.
There is ofcourse the lack of pinch to zoom which is a shame, it would really complete this device.
Having Android 1.5 is a bit of a let down when 2.1 and 2.2 is available...Will Motorola ever update it? Im not sure......Shame if they dont!
Overall though an average phone with a nice slide out keyboard. With a touch screen that does a good job of erm...being touched!

Good: Build, design, Android apps, proper keys, great processor

Bad: See below

Comment: I'll tell you here I think the battery could last longer, the camera could open quicker, and the power button is weird, months later I still haven't mastered the different types of click to lock the screen or bring up power options.

HOWEVER this is totally outweighed by the positives, Android is a brilliant environment with brilliant apps, it comes with MotoBlur if you want to sync email and text with Facebook etc, and the responsiveness is pretty good. Takes a couple of hours of getting used to, and then I think if you don't love Apple this is among the best products on the market.

Good: Internet access

Bad: Bluetooth contection; touch screen is too sensitive

Comment: This is the 2nd DEXT handset I have been given in 6 months. The first was replaced due to poor Bluetooth conection in my car, unfortunatley the 2nd is exactly the same. One of my major requirements for a mobile phone is to talk handsfree in my car and this model just doesn't to it. Can't wait to change it........
