Good: It calls people, sometimes.
Bad: App's crash constantly, switches off randomly, fingerprint sensor doesn't work, hasn't been updated at all and is stuck on Gingergerbread, Stupid interface really stupid and ugly.
Comment: Oh, I got this phone. It was between the Samsung Galaxy S2 and this one and I went with this one. All the things I mentioned went wrong with it, eventually I got it wet by mistake and it really went to pot. The screen didn't work! So I phoned up the insurance, got a new one. Same things have happened, minus the screen not working because I've made sure it's dry! Awful, awful phone. Motorola just forgot about it too, even though it's perfectly capable of running newer android os's. Just look at Cyanogen 10 on it, on youtube! It's disgusting how Motorola have left us Atrix users hanging and frankly I will never buy one again.
Comment: This is such a good phone. My laptop iPad and iPod are now unused and with Google drive it is only getting better...
Comment: So Shawnblue22 - or anyone else who has used it, please reveal your thoughts on this phone. I am thinking of getting it. Some reviews are a bit too focused on the extra bits - lapdock etc. I'm more interested in it as a phone, and how it performs as such. Reception? Music quality? Signal? you get the picture.
Good: 4'' screen with excellent dispaly.
Bad: skype is not supporting video calls.
Comment: Excellent Phone 100* better than Iphone. Thousands of application mostly free. And if you want to buy some much much cheaper than iphone application. Excellent touch. If you have iphone in 1 hand and atrix on other atrix is much graceful than iphone.
Comment: hi, anyone there can tell me how good is the battery of this phone?
i haven't decided if get the atrix or the galaxy s2.
i want to know if battery life for playing videos on atrix is better than the samsung galaxy s2.
at the end of the day what is the point of having a great phone if you cannot use it because poor battery life.
please let me know, thanks
Good: free from orange, very fast. Touch is great, nice keypad better then my iPhone 3GS. Free accessories
Bad: Editing image for home screen is not great. It cuts the image. iPhone handles much better. flash hangs phone.
Comment: this phone is better than any phone in the Market. Motorola proved that they got good talent.
I can see all updates from my friends across applications in a single window on home screen.
Don't press any keys Just speak and say Call Mr John smith and it calls!alright it's because of using android.
music is good.
my phone hanged once due to flash.
But I think we need to have some antivirus as browsing is so easy and may get some viruses.
I tried avg which is free.
battery life is much better.
Very simple security settings and just use finger scanner.
the Motorola web kit is superb and plays YouTube on my HD Ready tv. Motorola. Has tried to be nice and added free mobile HDMI cable in the box.
I think who got this phone may skip google tv which will be coming soon.
this phone has nice data settings that makes it not to use data overnight. so you get to hear any new messages.
Task manager is very nice and also we can control which apps not to store any memory after closing. You can also control apps to use data.
So many nice features that make it very efficient.
Good: Tegra 2
Bad: Motorblur, Locked bootloader, Motorola take ages updating their phones to the next version of Android.
Comment: CNET quote: "One place where sharpness really counts is in the Web browser, where you tend to do plenty of reading, and pictures abound. When using the browser, the Atrix's screen struggles to impress. Text and images don't look nearly as sharp and clear as in the iPhone 4's browser, which indicates that the Android browser needs to work harder to take advantage of the pixels available to it"
Proves that Cnet have a bunch of retards working for them, seriously who takes Cnet seriously these days?
The reason that texts are not sharp is because Motorola are using a pentile LCD which is smiliar to the pixel arrangement of Samsungs Amoled, although nowhere near as good in terms of Amoleds contrast and viewing angles.
Motorola fails, they switched to this screen because its cheaper.
The reasons why I didnt buy this phone and instead went for the LG Optimus 2X is because of:
1. Motorola take forever if at all to update their phones to the latest version of Android.
2. They use the crappy Motorblur on their so called flagship phones.
3. They lock to bootloader of their phones so developers have a tough time creating custom ROMS.
I have had the european version of the Droid and Droid 2 and have learnt my lesson, no more Motorola for me and when any one of my family/friends/colleagues ask my advice on which phone to buy, I steer them clear of Motorola.
Motorola has left a soar taste in my mouth. Ouch!
You can get it for free on upgrade with Orange, and get the work and play kit (docking station that connects to your hdmi tv, wireless keyboard, mouse and remote control.) When its docked you can use the touch screen like a laptop touch pad to control the mouse on your tv / computer screen.
I dont see any point getting the laptop dock unless you don't have an hdmi port on your tv / computer
This is my first upgrade with Orange and they dropped my monthly sub £10 to £25.
Bad: Nothing worth fretting over
Comment: I decided to try this phone out, but was sceptical and had my heart set on the Samsung Galaxy S2. I've had it a couple of days now and have decided to keep it.
I've had motorola's in the past and they've been mediocre at best. This phone rocks! Never had a droid before, but as a symbian and iphone user, it far outshines those user interfaces. I'd still recommend iPhone for 'basic users', I like that I can customise the phone, layout etc. and have access to more settings than with iOs or Symbian.
1) Finger print reader works effortlessly and accurately
2) The phone is quick, even with lots of apps open
3) Only slightly bigger than the iPhone, but its lighter and has 0.3 inches more screen
4) The Atrix has a good solid design and form factor and feels comfortable in my pocket, although I'd prefer the hdmi port to have a cover for when not in use
5) Work and play kit includes a wireless keyboard and mouse with the HD dock. All accessories seem good build quality. You can actually sit there and browse the web when connected to your HD tv (must have hdmi input) without any issues or compromises.
6) Wifi is quick and apps download and install in seconds.
7) Can charge from usb or power lead. I have a spare mini usb cable which I use at work. With heavy usage you will need to charge more than once a day.
8) You can download usb drivers from motorola's website to browse files on your device, view messages etc.
9) There are apps available that can sync with outlook via usb or wifi (search 'outlook syc')
10) For Exchange email (push email) you can easily setup up a connection as long as you have configured ActiveSync on your Exchange server
11) I read some reports of poor voice quality. I think it is excellent, even with skype
I've had enough of a play around with my Atrix to get a feel for what it can do, I'm not expecting any suprises, so I'd recommend it to anyone. Researching a phone can get quite OCD like, dont fret, just get it. Only available on Orange at the moment, I have slight reception issues at work, but plan on getting a signal repeater (the type that plugs into a power socket), so not an issue for me.
Good: it good for the apps , finger app for security. But...
Bad: Over priced , dock costs a fortune , you have to buy a motorola netbook for it to work on a computer .
Comment: dissapointed , I was very interested in buying but then i noticed the things they dont mention such as : You have to buy the motorola netbook for the dock to work , and battery life goes down after using it with t.v . I am sticking to iphone nice and reliable :)
