Good: Looks and feel.

Bad: TouchFlow and Design from usability perspective

Comment: Two things I am not at all happy with this phone. Unfortunately HTC does not mention them in the product tour/ feature list:

1. G-Sensor does not work with ALL applications except 'Opera' (Internet browser). The biggest drawback of this 'bug' with the TouchFlow is that the user can't make use of the wide QWERTY keyboard which is most convenient for typing (gives more space for touch sensitivity & character recognition)

2. TouchFlow sensitivity is too high (although one can change it, but does not really help). TouchFlow limits the Contacts flow option to only few on the screen. Also it does not give many customisation options.

Misc issues:
- The only option to lock the phone is a small button on the top which takes lot of effort to press (unless you have long nails). These is no soft lock.
- The volume buttons on the left side can not be soft-locked and every time it changes the settings for system and ringing volume (unless you hold the phone in a different position or handle it without touching the keys)
- The Radio can not be used without earphones/headsets (on speaker) also the headsets that comes along dose not have any controls (volume/mute)
- In the last 15 days the phone hanged abruptly 2 times and I had to remove the battery to restart it. Also if you press the on/off button for too long the phone does not start but shows three coloured screen (Red/Green/Blue) for a long time and again one has to remove the battery to restart it.

Windows Mobile 6.1 is still not matured on the HTC hardware and I am pretty sure that this phone was launched in a hurry to compete with the market without resolving lot of issues with Touch|Flow. (Exactly same situation is with Sony Ericsson Xperia X1.)

I would strongly recommend to wait till HTC resolve these issues in the new release and then buy the phone to avoid lot of disappointments and also to get maximum returns on the considerable investment.

Good: HUGE screen, 3.5mm headphone jack, touchflo 3d, winmo "apps", thinness, cool buttons on the bottom...

Bad: winmo parts that aren't finger friendly

Comment: This is one of the coolest phones ever. THE ONE for me.
Gorgeous touchscreen 3.8" which is the most sensitive touchscreen from HTC, 3.5mm so it replaces my ipod, touchflo 3d is awesome, and i love the customizability...(is that how you spell it??) of winmo compared to apple's appstore.

And btw guys, you CAN get this in the US without paying like $800 bucks.
I got mine at phone4ultd.com it's in the HTC section it's like 400 bucks...AWESOME DEAL

GREAT PHONE OVERALL

Good: Looks good, has a great screen and great with Windows Vista.

Bad: Video playback is flaky, Windows Mobile and data charges on Orange.

Comment: The phone is beautiful, very clever and feels expensive but my iPhone owning friends just laughed when they saw the Windows Mobile interface. HTC covers it up a little with the lovely TouchFLO 3D but that's merely a clever skin and you end using Windows Mobile far too often. I'm also using the stylus too much, which is a let down. I love the Outlook syncing ability and if I had time to tinker with it I’m sure I could sort out the video issues. I could even cope with horrible Windows Mobile except this phone is on Orange with their extortionate data charges. I went through 100mb of my 250mb allowance in 3 days! At £7.50 for each 250mb this phone on Orange will make you poor! Plus I’m sure Apple will announce something that beats it very soon so I’m sending it back and sticking with my N95 for now. So good phone, not Apple good but almost marred by Windows and being on Orange.

Good: Screen size and features

Bad: battery lasts for only two days opf intense use

Comment: This is the best smartphone in the market. In my opinion its average classification is superior to iphone 3g because of its bigger screen, phone features, communication possibilities, internet speed, software avaiability and finaly a very usable and responsive touch screen although this is the only feature i concede that iphone is superior (the best in the market).

Congratulations to HTC this is your best phone ever.

Good: HUGE screen and touch flo interface

Bad: Nothing yet

Comment: This is a great phone, the screen is amazing and the touch flo works very well for all the daily tasks that you are likely to use the phone for. I also have an iPhone 3G and I think the HTC Touh HD is a better all round phone. My iPhone will be going on ebay soon, mostly due to the poor 3G coverage from o2 in my area where Orange's coverage is far better. I got my touch as a free upgrade with orange, just speak to their retentions dept. and tell them you are thinking of leaving to get an iPhone!

Good: touch-flo 3d , responsive touch screen

Bad: nothing

Comment: Finally an alternative to the i-phone. Some people do have a problem with the windows mobile operating system, but with the touch flo 3d which you will use 80% of the time. Its amazing and slick. the windows side of things is fine, all it could do with is a xp or vista look. To me it still looks a little windows 95/98.
Overall i think it is easily the best phone out there if you want a phone that does everything.

Good: See below

Bad: See below

Comment: Couldn't edit my earlier review - but the screen rotation issue can be fixed using some freeware from SKKV (makers of SKTools) called GSen. Google is your friend!

Good: Screen, TouchFlo 3d, size, speed, headphone jack... damn its too good!

Bad: My fat fingers

Comment: I can't think of a better mobile device right now.

Got my Touch HD yesterday and have been using it for about 24 hours. I love Touchflo 3D - the interface is great - iphone schmyphone - the contact handling is amazing. As for browsing, Orange have put Opera on it which works far better on the big screen than it ever did on my TyTN II.

This phone really has it all - built in A-GPS, Wifi (perfect for Skyping when abroad - no roaming charges!!), beautiful screen, slim design, 5MP camera... I don't think there's anything out there at the moment that comes close. THe system seems very stable and my one software issue has been on installing VoiceCommand, which claimed it had had an error but after rebooting the phone (by choice) Voice Command works perfectly.

THe only reall problem I have is with the keyboard for typing long emails with fat fingers, but frankly team this phone with a folding bluetooth keyboard and you really wouldn't need to take a laptop with you on business. Plus you can watch movies on the flight! Orange very kindly give you an 8GB Sandisk SDHC card with the phone too so it's a great bundle. And at £49.99 for an upgrade to a 18 month £40 per month contract with "unlimited" (or rather 250MB) data it's a pretty good deal for such a cutting edge phone. Those of you whoe aren't on Orange will have to wait to next year when the exclusivity runs out! :-p

Update: the screen rotation issue can be fixed using some freeware from SKKV (makers of SKTools) called GSen. Google is your friend!

Good: Best display and very good reception and call quality

Bad: WINMO still need some improvement. Not all the programmes rotate in horizontal plane.

Comment: Good point: Ther pouch although is very simple but some how sticks with your pocket. So if it is in your shirt pocket it wnt slip out easily.
Mobile reception as I mentioned above is better but it ll be difficult to say if it is far better. But that could be network related issue as well in specific area. I am with 3UK.
Comact querty keypad froze and I had to switch on and off this hand set on day 3.
Opera is good but you need to zoom in before you can click any link which is more hassel than I thought initially. Also opera some time flicks from horizontal to vertical itself which is a shame. SO you have to reset this.
Most of the programmes only work n standard vertical layout so there is inconsistensy in the the software. HTC/WIN Mob should look into this matter seriously and soon.
Overall it is good and I will still give 9/10 but if minor flaws are not addressed I think HTC and WIN MO's reputatipn will suffer.

Good: Best display and very good reception and call quality

Bad: WINMO still need some improvement. Not all the programmes rotate in horizontal plane.

Comment: Below are my impressions after using the handset for more than 24 hours. I do wonder if HTC development team reads through English review. They can be of immense help for future improvements.

Phone itself is well built and front panel appears metallic perhaps liquid metal but I am not sure about this. Back cover is bit plasticky. Looks nice but could be better. Screen protector is as good as you could get but no spare one in the box so apply carefully. In fact I suggest to apply the protector as soon as you remove the original plastic cover. Makes it hassle free.
Sleeve looks cheap but I suppose could deceive the thieves, nevertheless provides protection for this gorgeous expensive handset.

In my opinion a handset has to be a good phone in the first place and HD lives to this expectation. Quality of the phone is excellent. It picks up and holds 3G/HSDPA signals very well. This is much better than few handset I have recently including TYTN 2 and Skype S2. I had problems with signals with these handsets at home but not any more thanks to HD. Previously the use of Nokia N95 silver was hopeless experience as regards to signal and call quality.
In my office where I could not pickup 3G signal constantly the HD did quite well and a test on few down loads from the web was perhaps as quick as my laptop.

Touch flow is good and gives you not only the choice of adding and removing the shortcuts but also you can rearrange them. However I think on such a big screen they should really have two rows with the bottom row being primarily active.

Touch HD is a beautiful handset. Screen is amazing only to blame is WINMO's 65 K colour drivers for any shortcomings. However to me in terms of colours this screen performs nearly as well as my Toshiba M300 laptop(manufacture 2003) with Intel graphics unfortunately no flash though. This is a shame that HTC still not managed to make all of their essential program screens to rotate automatically. They need to hurry up and remove this minor fault. Touch screen is very much figure friendly but I think there is some compromise on the use of stylus. Stylus touch does not appear to be as responsive as Tytn 2 however, how cares as you do not need to use stylus as often.

Opera browser is excellent. Renders various pages well but on this large screen you still need to zoom in before the links are active for the touch. Hope they will be able to address this issue as you should not necessarily need this when you can read the links without zooming in.

GPS seems okay. But you cannot really assess this very well until you have dedicated and compatible software. I do not know how well TOMTOM or COPILOT live will work so I am still holding on and will buy after some reviews regarding their compatibility are available.
Camera not used that much but few photographs taken appear good for a mobile phone.

Lastly I think major fault lies with Microsoft. This giant is constantly behind as compare to hardware developers. Do not forget first WINMO WVGA hand set was marketed by Toshiba more than one and a half year ago which suffered badly due to poor ROM. I believe if Microsoft could provide slim operating system with out all the crap they include in windows XP/Vista the hardware developers will be able to catch-up and provide a handset with the same capabilities as Win XP. I wonder if in near future capable smart phone with large screen will remove the need of small laptops. So HTC and smart phone manufacturers do seem to have bright future.

Lastly I want to moan about about CNET they should have scored this handset atleast equal to Iphone 3G as if it is not better it is at least equal to Iphone 3G. I personally thinks it is better and could be far better if WINMO makes some improvements.
