Good: fantastic signal strengh. and all round goodness
Bad: still to find out.
Comment: Just got my HTC one. and realised I had a signal at work. normally no one has a signal. other phones including old No*ias and I*tPhones have no signal at all. I have 2 bars and have fast H data as well. call quality is fab at work now. If you need a phone with a strong signal look at this phone- better than nex 4 .

Good: great screen, feels amazing to hold, audio is superb
Bad: no sd slot (go for 64gb if possible- this phone is fantastic!). Cnet reviewer has got a few things wrong
Comment: I'm lucky- I get to have an Xperia Z and an HTC One to use. I had an S3 before and I prefer these two, easily! Firstly, they are very different. The xperia Z is best if you have larger hands. It's waterproof and feels very strong. But the external speaker could be better and it attracts dust. The HTC One is incredibly different. It feels, and looks like a work of art. The Z is more of a small tablet. The One is more of a large phone. The external speakers on the One are mind blowing compared to any phone. The screen is crystal clear. This is the phone to turn heads (if you want to do that). If this had been called the iphone 6 or S4 it would have been hailed as a design classic. The software is very nicely designed (amazing how two different phones running the same version of android can be different!). To pick up on CNETs comments:
The camera is superb in low light (And video). Outdoors it's pretty good- though not as good as the Z. The Zoe mode which captures images before you press the shutter is excellent for capturing non posed shots. Basically, the One has the best indoor camera I've had. The Z is pretty good indoors but not in low light in comparison.
The blink screen I've pushed to 2 screens away from my home screen so I rarely look at it. But occasionally I do. If this was more customisable I would use it more.
It does make me loose faith in CNET reviews when the CNET reviewer says things like the 'customise menu doesn't do anything'- did you try actually dragging apps over other apps? Basically it gives the full list of apps the folder option- duh.
I've gone for the silver HTC One- to me it looks a lot better than the black one- and has no issue with paint scuffs!
Battery life (unlike my previous HTCs) is excellent (I'm getting two days in power saving mode).

Comment: I never really loved my Galaxy S3. Sure, it was fast, had a great screen, and it did all the things I needed it to do. But it looked like a cow pat, and TouchWiz really is a bit of a dog, in visual design as much as function.
So when the HTC One was announced, I hoped that I could return to HTC, a company who always seemed to get their product and software design right, even if they couldn't always match the Samsung beast for features and marketing spend.
So now I’ve owned the flagship HTC One for a weekend, and I have a phone I love again. To my eye, it’s the most beautiful bit of industrial design that’s ever been brought to a mobile phone, especially in its elegant HTC flip case. But better still, the redesigned HTC Sense interface is a revelation. It’s logical, simple, and throughout there are examples of thoughtful design like the clear, crisp modern fonts, with the right colours carefully chosen for clarity (can anyone actually see the dark grey-on-black of their read emails in Samsung’s TouchWizz?).
I really like BlinkFeed. Perhaps it’s not for everyone, but I enjoy having a mashup of news and other stuff always available when I feel like occupying a few moments. And it’s more surprising than just opening up a website or app – you find yourself checking out things you might not normally have thought about.
The screen, as you would expect from one having the highest resolution available, is fabulous; but the real tour de force, unmatched by any portable device this size, is the sound from the speakers. I’d say it’s nearly as good as a full size iPad, and it’s stereo. Far from being a gimmick, this gives the audio a degree of spaciousness that leaves one looking disbelievingly at its source.
There’s always a danger when choosing expensive devices like smartphones to fixate on the tech specs; 100 more ppi here, 4 more cores there. But little is written about the pleasure of actually using the device – how it looks and feels in the hand, the look and feel of the interface, the pleasurability of actually using the thing. Despite having the tech specs to see off almost any challenger, for me the real winning quality of the HTC One is that it feels like my Breitling watch; elegantly designed, beautifully engineered, and a pleasure to use.

Good: The screen is the BEST of any phone. And you CAN see the difference. It has the BEST speakers of any phone...which the review somehow forgets to mention.
Bad: Not waterproof. Camera is good, but not best.
Comment: HTC is the king of androids. They had the first phone to beat Retina display. And now they have the first phone to have an even higher pixel count than their Retina beaters. HTC is constantly the FIRST to create new phone technology. But Samsung outsells them because they pour money into advertising. So you have a choice....buy from the company that spends its money on ads. Or from the company that puts its money into new tech.

Good: beautiful design, amazing speakers, fantastic to hold
Bad: nothgin yet
Comment: cnet I do sometimes wonder about your objectivity- you do know for example that you can push the blink feed off to the side so you never have to come across it? Not what your headline implies! Not sure about hte black but certainly the silver one doesn't scuff in the least. And camera in low light is stunning, video too- there are several comparisons of video withe HTC One, Z, iPhone 5, Samsung s4 and the only one that produces decent results in low light is the HTC one. So your headline about the camera seems skewed. And the display on this outclasses any other phone I'e seen - period. I've seen a few people mention your pro Samsung bias. I am beginning to wonder myself too.
I am pretty disappointed by the depth of your review - and I think I'll stick to others that do a more indepth review.
Personally, I prefer the Xperia Z over any of the other crop of Android phones (including the S4). The main reason being that it is waterproof. But when I pick up the HTC One it is a pleasure to pick it up.

Good: Gorgeous looks and build quality
Bad: Battery life only so-so
Comment: Good balanced review, if factually incorrect in places, for example the PPI is 468 (see CNET.com for instance), not 446 as mentioned. Small point, but tends to back up a previous comment that perhaps this reviewer only had the HTC One for a short while and therefore it is not an in-depth review.
And, are you serious? "I don't think it's the prettiest phone around, but it's far from horrific and doesn't do anything too drastic -- it's unlikely to turn anyone off completely. "
