Good: Good Size, great battery life, slick looks, excellent keyboard
Bad: Underpowered, 4GB storage not enough.
Comment: The handset feels and looks great. Battery life will see three days on standby and 24 hours heavy use. Calls are crisp, loud and clear. The touch keyboard is the best I have used. The calender app is great(The most important feature of a smart phone for me) and syncs with Outlook on my PC perfectly.
I chose the 8S over the 8X because of the size and the better battery life but there are a few things that make me crave the higher end model. The screen resolution isn't superb, it would be fine except I have a retina display ipod touch that draws a stark comparison. Also the lack of internal storage space is a worry. Although you can store media on the sd card you cant install apps. It's okay for the moment but I fear that an OS update will render it obsolete.
Windows phone 8 OS is great at being a phone and organiser but pretty awful for media and games stuff. The app store has gotton much better in the last month or so, most of the big names are on board now and there are some great alternatives for the names that are missing such as instagram and youtube. Overall I think that WP8 is really good , it just needs some fine tuning.
With hindsight I think I should have gone for the 8X but if you are on a budget then the 8S is a good choice. Nokia's new 720 might be better though so I would check that out first.
Good: nice finish and build quality.
Bad: Windows is not as promising as android as windows update are scarce..
Comment: Good low budget phone with attractive body but lacks on other aspects like front camera, processor.
Good: Screen is decent plus gorilla glass, reasonably zippy.
Bad: Camera not amazing, ONLY 4gb of internal memory for which to install apps(however downloading apps to the sd card and then installing them to the phone saves alot of space), no NFC, no front facing camera.
Comment: You could argue that you get what you pay for but the Nokia Lumia 620 is reportedly going to pack 8gb of memory, NFC, and a front facing camera. Although the Lumia does look like one of those "My first mobile" toys you would give a three year old.
Bad: Cannot install apps on SD card
Comment: It's a wonderful smartphone, BUT... I can't seem to find a way to install apps on the sd card. That is a huge problem, i cannot understand how HTC didn't see this.
Good: The overall design and build quality, including the slick operating system.
Bad: The camera isn't the best, and you can see vertical lines in the screen if you're in daylight, but not often.
Comment: This is a very comfortable phone to handle, and the screen size is perfect for what I need. You can get this phone on pay as you go from £180 from three, compared to the £230 I paid.
Bad: no front camera (((
Comment: It's a good balance!
