Mary is a keen photographer and self-confessed gadget freak with an attic full of much-loved devices dating back to the 1980s. She'll probably never use her Walkman II again, but she won't be parted from it. She also has power cables for three different countries...

Yay, stickers
After I'd finished photographing ducks in my micro studio last weekend, I uploaded some of the photos to Flickr and then transferred them to MOO, to be turned into stickers. Click here for more

Welcome to my micro studio
I've been interested in photographing small objects for at least 10 years, but I've never had the space for a studio -- or the money for all the gear that goes in one. However, I've finally managed to set up a micro studio in the corner of my office. It's ridiculously small, but I'm really pleased with the results. Click here for more

The joys of geotagging
While I was on holiday I took about 1,800 photographs of ducks, windmills, Lincolnshire beaches and the Norfolk Broads. Many of them were rubbish, but that's the way it goes. I also recorded the latitudes and longitudes of all my shooting positions, not by the you've-got-to-be-bonkers method of looking up each place on a map and writing down the coordinates in a little book, but by turning on my Sony GPS-CS1 GPS logger and clipping it to my rucksack. Leaving my laptop at home
I'm on holiday for the next two weeks, and although I'm packing my camera(s), MP3 player, handheld and phone, along with an electronic spaghetti and meatballs of cables and chargers, I'll be leaving my laptop at home. 'Getting away from it all' does mean leaving a few things behind. Click here for more

Joining the one-ring-flash circus
To the disgust of my partner, I spent most of the weekend playing with my new ring flash (rather than, for example, installing water butts or planting tomatoes in grow bags). Here are some test shots, and some tulip photos taken at Kew. Click here for more

Ring light, camera, action...
I'm mucho excited because I've just splashed out on a Canon MR-14EX. Sex on a stick, obviously... with a name like that, how could it be anything other than highly desirable?
To be fair, it has a dull name because it's a somewhat obscure product. The MR-14EX is a Macro Ring Lite, more commonly known as a ring flash, and it's a circular flash head that wraps around the end of a macro lens to create an all-in-one, lights-and-camera solution for close-up photography. As I said, it's somewhat obscure... but also very cool. Click here for more

Adobe Photoshop CS3: How much?!
Adobe Photoshop CS3 is available for preorder and will be shipping in the spring (based on the recent weather, this could mean any time between now and June). Now I need to find £163.32 for the upgrade, which is a positive bargain compared to £569.88 for the full version. To pour vinegar on the wound inflicted on my bank account, Adobe is offering free shipping... to people who spend more than £195. Since I don't qualify, it'll be an extra £6 to get the box delivered. Gngh. Click here for more

Every bag should have a silver lining
Like our mobile phones expert, Andrew Lim, I'm a self-confessed bag freak. I can, if you ask, discuss the relative merits of Lowepro and Crumpler photo rucksacks at considerable length. Since you didn't ask, I'll be brief: my Lowepro Micro Trekker 200 is dull but practical, whereas my Crumpler Match Maker looks funky but holds surprisingly little -- and is made of flesh-eating Cordura that keeps chewing the skin off my knuckles.
