Good: Its processing speed is great, battery and its performance.
Bad: It's 3D graphics
Comment: Dis pc is d bomb...portable and highly effective, battery lasts up to 7hrs standby.Nice work by Toshiba.
Comment: Worst laptop ever !
The only thing laptop manufacturers have to do nowadays is to 'Assemble' the components and toshiba failed miserably in that simple job. The machine gets heated like i am running a nuclear plant and poor fan tries to cool it down as this nuclear plant has caught fire. Hence comes the noise. and that risk to running an extremely hot machine on ur lap. If there was any risk in battery getting exploded bcoz of heat around, this laptop genuinely comes among top. Serious health safety issue here.
Keyboard...why i have literally push every key. no wonder hands gets tired after one hour only.
Toshiba...i had heard a lot about u before buying this product, and now i will tell a 'lot' about you. Toshiba...never again.
I am wondering about CNET review team evaluation as well. 5 star for this kind of terrible product. Please dont do that, as lot of people like me look forward to ur evaluations.
Good: Most of it nothing
Bad: It's one of the slowest and most useless laptops ever
Comment: It's the worst laptop I ever had so far. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying it. After using it I always have headaches, it freezes all the time, it has a bad internet connection. It's made out of extremely cheap plastic and it breaks easily. I am leaving this post, because I don't want anyone else make such a big mistake by buying one of these.
Good: Looks,size and performance
Comment: got mine over a year ago i3 model, on special at PCworld for £429.
Didn't want another big heavy laptop but still wanted full functionality.
Tosh was a bargain and have been very pleased with it especially the bluetooth which many more expensive laptops don't have.
Suprised at some comments - my fan is quiet
Good: small and light
Bad: Fan overheats constantly
Comment: I am very disappointed to see other people with the same problem, I only purchased the laptop in Nov'11, in Jan'12 I returned it to Computer Mania, who sent it to the supplier and they replaced the fan and tested it. It is still overheating, I even bought a cooling station and it is still overheating, I can't even put my hands on the side, it is so hot. You spend alot of money, to buy quality, but this is ridiculous, I travel, I attend meetings and I have to be inconvenienced by this. I am at the point where I feel like asking for a refund
Comment: I just love toshiba that's all!
Good: Very functional, light and slim.
Bad: Fan heating..!!
Comment: I bought this device about three months ago, and I noticed that when I plug a headset into the right port for it .. the sound that comes out got a problem. Let's say I plugged the headset and played a song.. I can only hear the music and the background sound not the main sound. Is it a software or a hardware problem? please help ASAP, it bothering me.
PS:When I play the song on the speakers it sounds perfect. And there's no way that the problem is from the headset because they work perfectly and I tried several headsets on it.
Bad: Noisy fan, Overheating, Compatibility problems, Slow
Comment: This is probably the worst purchase i ever made.
1. The fan is too noisy and never stops. In normal operation there is a constant high pitch noise that is audible three to four meters away in an office environment - in high load you just can't stand it. The fan never stops, even when you are doing nothing.
2. Heat is a big problem. The bottom of the laptop is constantly overheating and i have to place it on my desk in a way that the bottom left corner is outside of the table so it can breath fresh air from below - if not, the temperature rises. When i work with the laptop while sitting on a sofa, i have to place a really thick book between the laptop and my legs.
3. Last (but not least), there is a problem with SSD installation. I bought a Corsair F80 (80Gb SSD), but the BIOS was not detecting the disk. I tried installing all firmware updates for both laptop and SSD but i had no success. Then i gave the disk back and i bought a brand new Zalman 128Gb SSD (SSD0128N1 Sandforce) but i had exactly the same problem. I contacted my local Toshiba support and the only answer i got was that the laptop is not compatible with those SSD's and this is not their problem. They told me that if i need an SSD upgrade i can only go for the Toshiba SSD that is installed on the portege series, which is sold by Toshiba for an expensive price - about $500 for 128Gb. I contacted the European support center and i got the exact same reply. I searched on the Internet and i found someone else with the exact same problem with a Corsair 128Gb SSD - he found that the laptop detects the SSD after ten to twenty reboots.
Shame for Toshiba... their support in non existent and they do not value their customers.
Comment: Im after this laptop. Pc world has it for £649 in store and it says its 1.96kg, i asked them to put the battery in so i could see how heavy that was. I presume its 1.96kg with battery? So why does it say 1.4kg on the internet? Is this the weight with or without the battery? I will be using it on the move away from mains so need it as light as possible to fit in my rucksack!
Comment: Very nice
