Good: When it is working okay it is a fine piece of kit.
Bad: It has now gone back to Toshiba for the second time in 18 months.
Comment: Having spent £1600 on my retirement present to myself I expected a superb machine. Just after the 12 month guarantee ran out the motherboard failed and only after all sorts of threats did Toshiba waive the £450 plus vat bill. It has now gone in as the screen has failed and the bill is for £350 plus vat.
If I bought a new car I would not expect to have to spend over 50% of the cost in repairs in 18 months.
Come on Toshiba if you make the best, and you tell us you do, then put some decent warranty on it without wanting another 20% of the cost for another 24 months cover.
If Toyota or Ford tried that we would never buy from them again.
As they were reasonable over the first repair, I bought two more Laptops from them for family presents at Christmas but now mine has failed I wonder if I have done the right thing !!!.

Good: Nothing
Bad: It's a faulty product!
Comment: I have the same problem, the motherboard has failed, and now I have to buy a new laptop because my warranty finished 3 months ago. This laptop sucks, don't buy it, Toshiba is the worst company ever!

Good: The performance, screen, graphics
Bad: Battery life, unreliability
Comment: I purchased the top-spec model of the G10 in April 2006 and found it fabulous for the first 4 or so months. Over the past month it have been in a service centre four times and has had the first hard disk replaced twice, the keyboard, fan, optical drive, motherboard and processor replaced. It's still showing problems, I'm awaiting Toshiba's response on what is happening next. Overall, one of the best notebooks around when it's operating trouble-free!

Good: Full of FUntionality, Graphics, Processing power and 2 HDD's
Bad: Unrelaible for a Toshibla - in 18 Months Motherboard Crashed Twice
Comment: Bought the G10-106 Top of the Range Model in Jan 2005. By month 11 the Motherboard crasjed and it took 6 weeks for Toshiba to come u with a replacement as it had to be shipped from germany and they had no stock. It's now July and the PC has crashed yet again - looks like Motherboard again and awaiting Toshiba analysis. I would steer well clear of this. If this was a car and he engibe broke twice in 18 months you'd get a new car replacement. I am neither impressed or happy with Toshiba. I just hope they read this and call Gultronics to get it fixed Pronto.

Good: Large bright detailed screen. Two hard drives. Fast
Bad: Battery life could be longer.
Comment: I have had this PC for over a year. No problems. Excellent performance. Reliable and very fast. Two hard drives makes it easy to back up critical data to the second drive, or to keep programs and data separate. Enough USB 2.0 ports to please even the most cranky user among us. Perfect screen for viewing DVDs and TV content. The TV tuner ran flawlessly and was easy to setup and use. My first Toshiba was a gaming machine with lots of power, and I thought I would never be able to replace it. I was wrong. Buy this, you won't be sorry.

Good: Screen size, system internal
Bad: Trackpad, You cannot directly burn a Windows Recorded TV Show from MCE onto DVD as one thinks - Win MCE will not allow you too!
Comment: Okay! A very good laptop though it does have its failings! Firstly, when you record a show from the only software that is configured to access the TV Tuner - as in Win MCE, be warned when you record a TV and then want to burn it to DVD - it can only be burned as a Data DVD and run of computers with later versions of Windows Media Player, it cannot and will not run on normal Audio/Visual DVD players or computer's without WMP V8 or before. The idea that you can record onto DVD is true, but misleading in that it is recorded as a WMP .dvr-ms file not an .avi or .mpeg2 as such. You must use another third party software, to completely decode and encode the .dvr-ms file in real-time such as WinDVD Creator, which is extremely anoying and wasteful!
Otherwise, it's a very good laptop with amazing specs!

Good: You can watch TV or DVD or listen to a CD without booting Windows
Bad: Mouse buttons too small for big fingers
Comment: Don't expect to carry it around and it works just fine.

Good: Loads of ports!
Bad: It's too big, it's too shiny, it's too......
Comment: Not a lot going for this bearing in mind you can buy a 'serious' computer for the same amount of cash. And it weighs about 15 kilos - whats that about!!
