Good: very light, nice design, good connectivity, very fast
Bad: windows 32 bit, the cpu fan a bit on the noisy side , Toshiba poor support
Comment: I went for top of the range configuration with core i7, ssd and 3g modem inbuilt, first impressions; it is very light you almost don't feel the weight at all, perfect for carrying it around. The design is very nice too, in my opinion one of the better looking laptop on the market at the moment, thanks to cpu and ssd it is vary fast too. Finger print reader is a nice touch and it works well, the same with 3G modem I just inserted the SIM card and the connection became instantly available. Keyboard takes a little getting use to but overall it is ok. Built quality is good, not quite in the Thinkpad league but overall a decent effort, battery life doesn't get anywhere near 8 hours advertised by Toshiba but with my normal use I get 4-5 hours which is ok.
My only two big complains are: the CPU fan is a bit on the noisy side, it has a high-pitched tone which I find slightly irritating in a quiet room, in the office though I can hardly hear it. The other annoyance is 32 bit version of Windows Professional, I really can't understand the Toshiba decision to ship a high end model without 64 bit version but to included 4 gb of RAM ( I actually upgraded to 8 as I run memory intensive applications ), I've contacted the Toshiba support regarding that and I was told that if I want 64 bit version I can go and purchase it as due to some mysterious licensing agreement they don't provide a 64 bit recovery disk in the UK even though they do it in other countries.
To sum it up I'm reasonably pleased with the purchase, particularly with the portability, speed and a nice design. I use it mostly for work and it does what I need however I do agree with CNET that it is a very pricey piece of kit and if you don't mind something a little bit bigger and heavier there are other options that will save you few quid and do the job just as well.
