Good: Nice large screen and good bluray playback

Bad: Poor construction and Coating, Usual Sony Warranty epic quibbles

Comment: After owning this Laptop for two months the silver finish started to come away from the wrist areas and the track pad buttons. I contacted the sony warranty repair system who instantly replied without looking at the Laptop :

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for contacting us.

Kindly be advised that this is considered to be Cosmetic Damage, & will be chargeable repair.

After providing the information below , will have the Repair Center engineer call you to discuss Cost

--------------------------------------
Anyhow the actual internals of the Laptop and the use of it are good if not mediocre for the cost of it especially when compared with the new I5 and I7 laptops out there which cost considerably less for better performance.
Overall I am very disapointed with this laptop and have instigates a small claims court proceeding against sony just to get the laptop repaired. Lots of time and effort to rectify Sony's Skimping on the workmanship.

I own it

Good: the screen - its large and easy to read at an angle

Bad: Quality of contruction, Sony service

Comment: I've owned about eight laptops over a period of 20 or more years. The Sony is the flimsiest of them all. I have never had a power input socket fail in 20 years across Toshibas, Dells, HP’s and Gateways. My laptops are always either on a desk or hand carried in a purpose padded carrying bag. The Sony power socket is hanging loose and apparently not covered by Sony under warrantee under any circumstances. The hard drive which failed is. Case between keyboard and the nearest edge which I use for resting a mouse badly is abraded by the mouse – more so than a Toshiba which was a between half and a third of the price, six times the age and has had six times the use.
