Good: Works well while it lasts!!!
Bad: Inherantly faulty (ALL OF THEM)

This laptop is great while it lasts, 3 or 4 years ago I bought this expecting the best, at first all worked great fantastic picture, great machine... BUT... about a year into its life, on a few startups, I would just get a blank screen. I thought nothing of it as upon restart all was ok. at about year 2 the HDMI stopped working. I assumed it was due to poor use and put it down to the socket.
Now the Graphics chip has fauled completely.
I now know that in 2008/9 Nvidia announced that their 8600m GT chips (the one in this one) are all inherantly faulty and under certain conditions would fail. Sony have admitted that some are afftected by this fault but not all even though they are the same chipsets and the same batch of chip!
needless to say mine is one of these "not affected" models!
DO NOT BUY! SONY ARE USELESS!

Good: Nice size screen, good graphics, like the built in cam. Sony very helpful if you need to know something.
Bad: Its heavy. I've had mine for six months had to send it back for repair twice for the same thing with in seven weeks of first repair, the black coating keeps on peeling off where the wi-fi and bluetooth lights are, im not very happy at the moment as this computer is not at all cheap, im in the process of trying to get my money back or an exchange, has any one else got this comp and has had the same trouble if so would you please let me know so i can take this further with sony many thanks Bob, my contact is robert.chipchase*at*sky.com, cheers
Comment: I do like the computer, only for as i mentioned the coating coming off from front,it seems to be a really bad design fault, that i am taken up at the moment with Sony.
