Comment: "Following the lead of Apple's MacBook and most of today's high-end laptops, the Vaio uses a keyboard with an isolated design," quote from CNET review... Sony was the first to develop and pioneer this style of keyboard not Apple.. perhaps do some research before making groundless comments :/

Good: CPU performance is good, GPU is OK
Bad: Sounds like a leaf blower most of the time. Gets very hot. 5400rpm hard disk is a let down. Battery life is just around 1 hr
Comment: Regret buying this laptop.

Good: Speed, Graphics, Screen etc...
Bad: The Battery life and Webcam.
Comment: I have this Laptop and it is very fast because mine has 8GB of RAM instead of 4GB. The only real problem apart from the webcam is the battery life. It is quite understandable because of the 1080p Display and everything else it has, but I thought it would have been a lot worse. People are saying that it takes forever to start up, but to be honest its reasonably quick. Compared to other Laptops I have had in the past.

Good: This is a great laptop! Very fast processor, good gaming ( not much lag) and 1080HD Blu-Ray!
Bad: The built-in camera on the laptop is not really good.
Comment: Great laptop for home use, game use and even work use! But the camera is a bit disapointing.
Overall 4.5 out of 5.0
Not for me because I go on Skype alot.

Good: Very fast cpu/gpu combo producing some amazing HD video effects, cheaper than a Macbook, 1080p res , blu ray player . . . . the list is virtually endless.
Bad: Sony bloatware - althogh very good, it slows the machine down by about 30% fresh install of windows recommended (or linux if preferable)
Comment: I've had this computer for a few months now, its never failed to perform any task I ask of it, it rips through DX10/11 Games @ Med/High settings, and its productivity performance is outstanding, with the 17" 1080p HD glossy screen, BluRay player and the outstanding sound performance, HD media playback is fantastic!
Upgraded the Hard Disk to a SSD, not sure maxing the Ram to 8GB will make it any faster, it's very quick already.
Although I do NOT recommend this, you can tweak the Gpu clock up with a decent laptop cooler, but the increase/risk ratio is negotiable.

Good: Design, Build Quality and screen
Bad: Not powerful enough to play high-graphics games
Comment: Btw, Apple copied Sony - the 'isolation keyboard' was on Vaio before MacBook. Apple's old ways of copying stuff and claiming it's theirs will never change. But I would still get a MacBook just because of OS X.

Good: Excellent Performance
Bad: Fan Noise and No Backlit Keys
Comment: This is a really good windows system. I would recommend anyone but Sony need to do something about the Fan Noise.

Comment: You mention "Sony has kitted it out with a large, 50GB hard drive"
I am sure this isn't right and you mean 500GB
But looks like a another great Sony Vaio
