Asus G60J
Packing a quad-core Intel Core i7 CPU, the 16-inch G60J gaming laptop rockets along at a speed that puts greased lightning to shame. It's a pity the screen isn't of a higher resolution, but the G60J is hard to fault otherwise, making light work of even the most demanding 3D games

Asus W90
Asus might not be the first name you think of when it comes to gaming laptops, but it has just sent us the fastest portable 3D graphics-pusher we've ever seen. With 6GB of RAM, a Blu-ray drive and a huge 18.4-inch screen, it’s an astonishing performer

Asus G71V
The Asus G71V is designed to be the ultimate desktop-replacement laptop. It uses the first quad-core processor designed for portable machines, has a whopping 1TB of disk space, a Blu-ray combo drive and a high-end graphics card. It's unnecessarily ugly, but brutally quick

Asus U2E Deluxe Edition (32GB solid state)
The Asus U2E Deluxe Edition (32GB solid state) improves on its springtime sibling by adding a 32GB solid-state hard drive. The result of the SSD is improved battery life and better performance. While you won't be gaming on this ultraportable, it's still great for day-to-day tasks

Asus Lamborghini VX3
Ready to incorporate some vroom-vroom action in your computing experience? The Asus Lamborghini VX3 could be the car-themed laptop of your dreams. This ultraportable certainly has 'sports car' written all over it, with excellent build quality and upscale touches

Asus U6S
The Asus U6S is one of the sexiest laptops we've ever seen. Its chocolate-coloured reflective cover is shiny enough to substitute a mirror and it's complemented by a brown leather wrist pad. With plenty of high-end components, this ultraportable has brains and beauty

Asus W5Fe
Asus has a track record of releasing innovative laptops, and its latest endeavour takes advantage of SideShow -- one of Windows Vista's most dramatic new features, which lets you look at pics and listen to music using an external second screen
Editor's rating
8.3
Asus Lamborghini VX2
The Asus Lamborghini VX2 is lovingly styled on its namesake, even down to the "vroom vroom" noise it makes on startup, but this isn't at the expense substance -- there's plenty of grunt in the engine, too

Asus U1
It's tiny, it's shiny, it's got leather, it's got Vista -- what's not to love? The Asus U1 offers Core Duo performance in a petite package, along with a lovely 11-inch screen, an insignificant 1kg weight and the brand-new Windows OS. Graphics aren't a speciality though, and it is pricey

Asus G2P
The ATI-based G2P is Asus' larger model in its gaming series, and it features both a hybrid TV tuner and a 17-inch 'ColorShine' display. It's well-designed and well-built with some useful features for gamers, including plenty of flashing lights and highlighted home keys, and the Core 2 Duo CPU ensures it can handle heavy tasks

Asus G1
Laptop-loving gamers are often stuck with portable systems that are nearly as bulky as desktops, so Asus has created the industrial-flavoured G1 in an attempt to provide gaming power in a smaller package. The G1 has a 15-inch screen, a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU and a GeForce Go 7700 graphics card

Asus W6Fp
This latest member of Asus' 2006 leather collection is wonderfully portable and packs some of the newest Core 2 Duo gear from Intel. It's not the cheapest laptop around, but a combination of style and substance make this an attractive and reliable option

Asus Lamborghini VX1
With canary-yellow styling -- and a price tag -- that will upset the faint of heart, the VX1 wears its Italian supercar badge with pride, and packs specs to match. It's not the most insanely well-equipped laptop we've seen, but its 2GHz Intel T2500 CPU and 2GB RAM give it a very potent foundation

Asus S6F
It's got a beautiful 11-inch screen, Intel Core Duo processor and -- best of all -- leather panelling for the lid and wrist-rests. The S6F is undoubtedly the most stylish ultraportable laptop we've seen, and thanks to its performance, it's one of the best all-round, too. We just can't wait for the pink version...

Asus A7J
Multimedia enthusiasts will love the A7J's Media Center operating system, with its incorporated Freeview tuner, as well as its solid performance, and its gaming abilities should appeal to FPS fans. While it excels in most areas, potential buyers should beware of models with the paltry 60GB hard drive we saw

Asus W2Vc
A powerful, feature-rich laptop, the W2Vc offers impressive performance and a fairly attractive design. It's not the cheapest of laptops, or the most portable, but it's worth considering if you want a good all-rounder with a strong focus on multimedia
