Good: neat understated yet classy design, quality materials, very cuddly
Bad: vertical viewing angle could be better
Comment: The specs only tell half the story. This is a laptop that is tastefully designed and well put together.
I totally disagree with the reviewer's comment on the look of this S5610. I could go as far as saying it is the look that actually won me over. After visting PC World and the Apple store where I saw all sorts of designs including the pointless chrome like finish from HP, the anti-slip from Sony(rumours have it that the chief exec of Sony once slipped over on a pile of unsold laptops, so he came up with the solution. Sadly for us it did not include reducing the price), and the totally distasteful white colour of the MacBook, seeing the look of the S5610 was a massive relieve and I immediately bought it.
Regarding the battery life, I have read quote of about 3 hrs from other reviewers. In any case I like this machine so much that I would not mind ordering a 12 cell battery from Medion if I had to. So far no need to
The keyboard is very good. I thought I will never get anything nearly as good as that in my Thinkpad. I will say the medion keyboard comes very close. With most 15 inch laptops you often get this large strip of plastic either side of the keyboard, which makes it look as if the the keyboard was ripped off a smaller machine. The decision to include a number pad actually serves a good design value by eliminating those unwanted pavements.
My only gripe is that in making the display so slim they have had to compromise its vertical viewing angle. I can live with that.
