Good: Fantastic for gaming! capable of medium-high end graphics
Bad: Loud machine, not subtle or sleek
Comment: This cnet review is pretty harsh, firstly reccomending the samsung over this is pretty unfair as it totally depends what you want a laptop for, this is probably the best 15" gaming laptop around for under a grand, however like all laptops you need to be plugged in to get good gaming performance.
Absolutely fantastic for games, runs most modern games at medium-high settings comfortably and i really cannot reccomend it higher for that purpose. The screen is truely beautitful and i totally disagree with cnets comments about the keyboard, the letters are very well spaced out, they even left out the number pad so they could space out the regular buttons and make them larger.
however if you're not going to be using it for gaming i'd probably recommend something else, it is a chunky, loud machine because of all the gaming grunt it has and the battery life is slightly under average, its also a little socially awkward in a quiet place when the brute of a fan revs up. But its all relative, for the power of this beast, its silent and light as a ninja.
Gaming Laptop - you'd be silly to go for anything else (unless you're speding 1k+)
General office laptop (you can probably find something sleeker, prettier and less of a tank to do the job)
Good: 15" Screen, Nice Nvidia graphics card, Nice internal hard drive storage, reasonable battery life, big key size, nice amount of ram at the base cost (From Dell at the moment), and OS Recovery Discs which is nice =) --- Overall review: Mainly for powerful games, (But looking over a bundle on overclockers.net that might make me not get this laptop)
Bad: Not much really, As far as I am concerned, Maybe it isn't built as good as the alienware M11x with its heavy weight and particular build with in my opinion would have bigger impact resistance if accidentally dropped,
Comment: and thats all :P - there are other things, that I did not list but you will see for yourself when you buy your own =)
Good: Fast, powerful, reliable, plays the latest games...
Bad: Nothing really

Well think again because users rated the Dell XPS 15 at 4.5*, when you gave it a 3*. And CNET rated the Samsung and Medion higher, where as users rated them lower. Sorry but I couldn't trust a CNET revew as far as I could throw it.
The DELL XPS 15 is a truly marvellous machine, build to perform as well as if not better than an Alienware brand. You want to a gr8 games machine at a budget price, then the XPS 15 is your baby!
Comment: I love my laptop and i would'nt get rid of it.
Good: Display, Battery Life, Speakers, Graphics
Bad: Thickness, Performance Issues
Comment: I have the UK version, and the keyboard is different to the one described in the review. It does have keys that are separated by gaps.
There is an issue with this laptop where if there is a USB device connected to the laptop, it will start up extremely slowly. It seems to slow down during both the BIOS and Windows loading screens, taking up tp 3 minutes to load up. That can naturally be frustrating. However, once loaded up, it runs faultlessly. Though spending £1000+ on a laptop which has issues such as this is may not be so wise.
Nevertheless, I was very surprised that with the powerful hardware, i7 processor and graphics card, the battery life is exceptional, at around 5-6 hours. Note that I have the 9-cell battery, which also adds to the weight and depth, but raises the screen end of the laptop, making it easier to type
